I have been looking for a place to buy the tatting needles that are used in the stiching book. I have looked at "Jo anns fabrics" and Michaels. They don't seem to know what I'm talking about. Could someone please help me?

I don't have a Hobby Lobby anywhere near me.I tried Joann's and came away with $50.00 worth of fabric for summer dresses and still no Tatting needles....Its 4;05am right now, maybe I'll look around Sat. Morning to see if I can find them locally, if not I may order off the site Sunshine gave.

Thanks for the help. I will look at Hobby Lobby the next time I go shopping. I am looking forward to working on this project.

I agree Sunshine . It is faster with a shuttle. The needle just slows me down. Pinkroses

I bought a set of tatting needles yesterday at Hobby Lobby in the aisle with floss, etc. Set of four different sizes plus threader for $9.95. I don't know if Hobby Lobby is nation wide, but they have stores in the South and in Ohio I know for certain.

I like shuttle tatting better too, I also like cro-tatting. But if people don't have a teacher on hand needle tatting they can teach themselves. To me shuttle tatting is faster once you know how it is just getting to that point that some people have a problem with and if you want the same sort of look then needle tatting is an alternative.

I tried the needle tatting. It to me is a pain.
I love to tat with a shuttle . For me it is much easier.
But I was taught by my husband's great Aunt to use a shuttle and a crochet hook.
Annie's Attic has the tatting needles too I think
Also they have a thing called cro-tatting. I like that too.
Check there too. pinkroses

Sunshine, I looked at this site for tatting and loved it. I may order some needles and thread and give it a try..I could not find them any place here, I like the look of the greeting card with tatting on it, makes a nice gift.....

Here is a copy of the post I put on another topic here that turned into a tatted needle topic even though it was originally talking bobbin lace hope this helps.

I buy mine at a local store so I don't really buy my needle like that online.
But I do know that handy hands has a lot of supplies so try there they also have on line tutorials for more advanced things like a cluny which can replace a chain in a pattern

I had a tough time finding them too - I looked in the same places you did and got the same response. I finally found them in our little V & S variety store in our small town. I also googled tatting needles and found a few websites for them, so you might try that.
