Posted - May 12 2007 : 06:25:02 AM My co-worker came to work yesterday all excited, she had been at a neighborhood get together the night before. One of the ladies was stick weaving, she was going to make some weaving sticks this weekend. I did a google search and found a little on it. http://www.finniwig.com/stkweavinst.htm http://hubpages.com/hub/Stick_Weaving_For_a_Quick_Homemade_Gift
Does anybody do this? I'm thinking of making myself 6 sticks this weekend and play around with it. Just curious... KarenP

Posted - Jun 11 2007 : 3:37:41 PM The websites below are good start... http://www.finniwig.com/stkweavinst.htm http://hubpages.com/hub/Stick_Weaving_For_a_Quick_Homemade_Gift The specialty yarns add so much to the project. The green one to the left is wool yarn in the upper picture, I boiled it when I finished it...
Shrank A LOT! Just an experiment... KarenP

Posted - Jun 11 2007 : 05:07:24 AM Is it similiar to loom knitting? I saw a book yesterday at the bookstore on it, but it was from the early 70s and the projects in it were really horribly ugly, so I didn't even look closely at the technique...

Posted - Jun 10 2007 : 05:59:53 AM Oh, cool. I think I might introduce that at our next KnitWits meeting!! (We don't necessarily stick to knitting all the time.) Even the most challenged ampong us should be able to do this! I love your scarves Karen!!

Posted - Jun 10 2007 : 05:32:32 AM Well, I've been playing with the stick weaving for a little bit now and have been making some scarves and collars. It's nice for a car project or something to take that's portable. I also found it's fairly mindless and can converse easily while weaving. Here are a few of my pieces...
It's kinda addictive... KarenP

Posted - May 12 2007 : 12:41:38 PM We taught this to our girl scouts, years ago, then last year my GD came home from school with one they had made . Hers were made on straws. I think we did them on dowels, if I remember right. Shirley |

Posted - May 12 2007 : 11:16:01 AM I'm going to have to try this, my mom made me a shawl on a tri-loom her and dad built, but I've never seen this before. I've seen the card weaving. This would be great to do in my get-away cabin. Thanks for sharing! ~~Blessings, Mikki Jo
