I don't embroidery, but when I was at the Thrifty Quaker this morning, I was first (and only one) in line at the fabric and vintage pattern bin. The fabric lady (volunteer who takes home the donated fabric and measures and prices it) put 9 vintage embroidery pattern packages in the bin. I scooped them up at fifty cents each. Many are still sealed and uncut/unused. They are:

Vogart 631, Vogart 147, Vogart 123, Vogart 201, Vogart 704, Vogart 147, McCall's 1998, McCall's 6836
Simplicity 4049
Aunt Martha's 3599

A couple are printed with 1963 (the McCall's) but I think the rest date from the 30's and 40's.

Almost all are still factory folded and unused and in their original envelopes.

Did I find a bargain?

Well the ones are walmart, joanne's etc are only Aunt Martha. The vogarts and Mc calls are no longer made. So finding them is quite a find! And I love the old patterns better then some of the newer aunt martha's too. (I like aunt martha's don't get me wrong) But, I love the vintage vogarts! Especially the baby ones. Aunt Martha doesn't have much baby stuff. At least not like Vogart had.

WOW I have been paying 6 to 10 dollars a pop for "reprinted" Vogarts! You are so lucky, I am jealous!!!!!! Mc Call's are great too and almost impossible to find.

Originals online I have seen go for 35.00 to 45.00 each!

Man I love to embroidery, I wish I would hav ebeen there! Just iron them on lightly so you get many uses out of them!

If you ever feel the need to sell them let me know.

Georgann,
you lucky lady....any time you can find un-cut pattrens especialy vintage ones it's like stiking gold.
If you have never done cross stitch or candlewicking, I suggest you give it a try. Both are very easy and relaxing.
The next time you are out at a craft store check out the cross stitch section. They have simple for the beginner to time intensive for the advanced stitcher.
In fact I will create a little "beginner kit" & put it in the package I am sending to you. What perfect timing. : > )
Well tata-4-now
