Someone wrote a pamphlet regarding 37 food items you need to survive any disaster. I'm too cheap to buy the book but would like to know if anyone else has and what those items might be
I figures that one of those items must be honey and or maple syrup because they don't spoil. Maple syrup if it gets moldy scrape it off. The rest is good. The other item is salt. I'm thinking the alcohol that was mentioned is most likely vodka. What else?

People like us have. I'm blessed to live where I do and I'm confident that dh and I can survive any Holocaust that comes this way. I just wish this instinct that I have about stock piling food would go away. It must be stemming from this gun control talk.

I was looking at the different lists of the 37 food items. Alot of them consists of what I consider luxury items ie hard candies. And things that spoil quickly like peanut butter and vegetable oil. Granted some of.this stuff can be bartered to foolish people in a crisis. But I'm not that kind of person either. I realize canned goods, dried foods etc. Are the way to go. Regarding gas /oil and propane supplies are going to be rationed as well so there will be millions in panic because they don't have the coping skills that pe

And a vacuum sealer. But I also don't want dh to think I'm nuts either. We also have the ability to hunt and fish in the event of a nonnuclear catrastophy even if it means poaching. Btw we don't poach ay all.for the record. So meat sources aren't a huge problem. We also have gardens as well.

No problem nini. I watched part of the advertising video on Fb for the pamphlet and the author said a water purification system is ad simple as shovelling sand in and aa 50 gal drum. I do want emergency rations but also need to invest in some food items, a dehydrator

That's awesome, Lorena! :) We aren't as blessed - city water, extremely limited storage capability. We have been considering a Berkey for a long time, but if we face an extended time without access to water service, we'd be in trouble. My in-laws own riverfront property, but actually getting to that water might be difficult, depending upon the emergency situation. My brother has well water, and plans to hand pump it and then filter it with his Katadyn, just in case it becomes contaminated.

Yes but our water supply is gravity fed into our basement from a spring so short of setting up a purification system not dependant on electricity we're good. Not only that water spoils.

(PS - I do know that you can't survive without water... Am really surprised it's not even on the first list! Would think you'd want to stock up on whatever you can, and add some sort of purification system along with it!)
