Posted - Aug 11 2012 : 05:59:27 AM I posted a short update on our journey to self-sufficiency, on my blog today. Hope you enjoy reading it. We have a long road to go, but each year we inch our way forward. Cost is always a factor, but paying cash only is the only way to go for us.
I keep a homesteading journal that records our ups and downs, and stats (some days I'm so busy I do forget). Yesterday I taught one of the girls how to blanch and freeze tomatoes. It's a step forward for sure. The kids have had no interest.
Yesterday it felt so good to walk out my door, pick sage and lemon balm, and make a pitcher of iced tea sweetened with raw honey. Total bliss, no packaging to deal with, and totally healthy for our bodies.

Posted - Aug 11 2012 : 09:30:49 AM It is a nice feeling to walk outside and pick your own grown veggies and eat them raw or cook them for the family. I agree, 'total bliss'. Marly
