I am the most happy when I can use my wheel barrel or big yard cart...now that I am older the back isn't as good so having this has helped me more than anything...just yesterday I used the big heavy plastic yard cart to move 100 lbs of chicken feed from the car to the shop.....I love having them when I clean out the coops, clean up the yard or gardens...I use them to move wood to the house for the wood stove...I got the metal wheel barrel from a neighbor who moved for $10 & the big yard cart I got for a mothers day gift years back....I also use the yard cart when I pick pears from the neighbors trees for canning.....I can cover it with a tarp to protect the items until I can get to all of it....makes it so nice to have....my hubby uses the wheel barrel more than I do because it is more stress on my shoulders & back but the lawn cart is something I use more than anything else....even bringing in groceries is nice since I can put all the bags in it & take that to the door so I am not going back & forth to the car to unload it....I use it lined when I have to wash loads of blankets/sheets/towels to hang on the lines to dry.... no wimpy laundry basket for me!!lol.....It is the one thing i think I depend on more than any of my other farm/garden tools....Michele'

JoyIowa, your knife sounds like mine. I think it has a Japanese name. I got mine almost 20 years ago and decorated the wooden handle with a Celtic knot design using a wood burning tool. It's the single most useful garden tool I've ever had. I'm always careful to wash and dry it carefully after use, and rub it down with mineral oil to prevent rusting or the handle drying out and breaking. I'd be lost without it!

Lol, true! I usually don't say 'cheap' because it truly is not interchangeable with 'frugal'. Anyhoo, I also have one of those nice wheelbarrows and I love that thing, too. The kind with 4 wheels and the front 2 are inflatable.

True, funny story about that: I pulled up to our local farm store one afternoon after we had moved to the farm. I was sick and tired of hauling junk around, breaking my back. Not 2 seconds later, my husband pulls in on the same row. We look at each other (had NO idea what the other was doing that day), and I said, "What are you here for?" He says, "To get that big wheelbarrow with the big wheels." I said, "So am I!". It was just so funny...same thought at the exact same time!

Amanda, it's not cheap its frugal. :D I love my wheelbarrow because it takes some strain of my back injury. It's a really light one with bicycle tires so it's easy to move around. Also adore my rototiller. I can't do much hoeing due to the back so my rototiller does most of the grunt work for me.

Excuse the mess & the noise, my children are making happy memories

HA! I just bought the Hula Ho!!! I adore it! That's too funny. Also, 5 gallon buckets are one of my all-time ever favorite things. That and pantyhose for tying up veggies. I'm cheap. Lol

I wish I had a garden seat on wheels. I love the sound the push reel mower makes. I don't know why the dog barks at it. I use a dagger for gardening because DD has wondered off with countless hand shovels and they are nowhere to be found.

I favorite tool is a plain, heavy serrated knife. I can undercut those little weeds, cut a leader off, or slice a fresh tomato for a snack all with the same tool!

If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping!

My wheel barrow has flat tires right now but that's probably my favorite thing here. I also have the big yellow cart that I use alot. Right now it's full of fire wood by the front door. I need to find something else to put wood in. I also have a very old 2 wheel dolly a friend gave us. I use that to haul hay and feed bags and salt blocks. So I guess that's the most handiest tool for me.

Well, I have to say my old fashioned human powered reel mower is my favorite piece of yard equipment. I love pushing that silly thing around from spring to autumn =)

My all time favorite is the broad fork that I had. some person decided to steal it and I haven't been able to replace it yet. But this time, I'll keep it locked up. You can dig a garden patch in no time with a broad fork!

Mine is a garden seat on wheels, with a storage spot for hand tools, twine, seed packets, etc. Daughter gave it to me for Christmas about 15 years ago and it's still going strong, along with my back.
