This swap involves no sewing (your project is determined by what you want to make with your fabric squares) - only buying fabric and cutting it into 10" squares. Please buy 100% cotton quilting fabric and cut off both selvage edges before cutting squares so there is NO selvage in the 10" squares. (NOTE: The selvages are the two tightly woven edges of the fabric - opposite the folded edge.)
This swap is for 10" squares of anything the reminds you or shows ice and snow fabrics. It's pretty free reign. Each person who signs up will send 2 different 10" squares of 100% cotton ice and/or snow fabric to each farm girl who signs up. A yard of fabric will make 12 squares (with a little left over), so the amount of fabric you will need to purchase will depend on how many sign up. Please join in - all are welcome.
Signups begin today: today, December 27 Signups end: Noon, Friday, January 12 Mail out no later than: Friday, January 26
When you sign up, please immediately send me your name/address/phone. The name/address is so I can send a complete list to each farm girl for mailing out to everyone; the phone number is only in case I need to contact you for any reason.
We have been enjoying these swaps and it is fun seeing all the different fabrics we choose. I hope you will join us.
We all like to hear from you when you send out fabric and when you receive fabric. And please post pics of what you make in the Showcase thread. You can go to the "Showcase" thread for using this link. http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=84663

Posted - Feb 25 2018 : 10:12:11 AM I do tie mine, and my grand daughter told me she nearly froze each time she was there...even though she had been gifted a lovely quilt, it was child size, pieced and quilted. Anyway, she said I should back my kid quilts with Fleece. So I do.

Posted - Feb 25 2018 : 09:20:46 AM Marilyn, Do you quilt your quilts or tie them. When I vacationed in the Valley for a number of years our group made charitable quilts for Many charities and when a resident of the park went to the ER. Miss working with others to do this. We tied our quilts.

Posted - Feb 25 2018 : 04:48:38 AM Hi Gals,
I haven’t done this swap in a while, but I’d like to make a suggestion.
I have several friends involved in Charity quilting for babies, children and RTC ( residential treatment facility for teen girls).
She told me that it’s hard to find fabric donations that are BOY themed.
How about some boy fabric swap. Younger boys ( easiest) or tweens and teen boys ; And needed.
Thank you for your consideration. Mary
PS... I’m usually a Fabric Mule carrying donations to those who make up the quilts. My girl friend has a long arm, backing and quilts them up free of charge..

Posted - Feb 12 2018 : 05:55:17 AM I want to thank you all for the wonderful fabrics I received. Now the bad news...I'm going to have to back out of hostessing this wonderful swap. I'm actually going to have to take a break from all swaps because of my health and family issues. I know this is irresponsible and it took a lot of soul-searching to make this decision, I love you all so much. Please accept my apologies and carry on.

Posted - Feb 11 2018 : 5:55:05 PM Glad you got your squares Marilyn. Remember a while back you sent me squares and after a few weeks you sent more fabric because I still hadn't received them. I the second set right away and on the same day I also got the first ones you sent. Sometimes I really wonder what happens in our mail system. Every once in awhile I read or hear about a postal worker putting mail in a garage or dumping it somewhere instead of delivering it. Very frustrating for people. Makes me not want to trust our postal system.

Posted - Feb 10 2018 : 1:22:27 PM Today my mail box held fabric squares from Christy Martin and Brenda Wheeler. They were postmarked January 25 and 26th...let's see that is 16 days and 17 days...And they just raised the price we pay for their poor service!!! I love your squares girls. Thank you!! Still no squares from RoDonna though. Kentucky is closer than Michigan.???
