Posted - Jul 22 2017 : 3:14:45 PM Since we are going to experience an event that hasn't occurred here in the US in 39 years, a complete solar eclipse ( August 21, 2017) I was wondering if anyone would be interested in trading an ATC depicting the eclipse? In fact, maybe a card of the sun, one of the moon and then a third one of the eclipse? With one partner each to trade with? This would have you making 3 ATC's, of the sun, moon and eclipse. Is anyone interested? If so our sign up date would end the 8th, giving us a little over 2 weeks with a mail out date of the 28th , a few days after the event. Maybe even share your experience?? What do you think?? Great info: http://cs.astronomy.com/asy/b/astronomy/archive/2014/08/05/25-facts-you-should-know-about-the-august-21-2017-total-solar-eclipse.aspx
Hi Ladies!!! Sorry, I've been dealing with heat and gallstones of late but here I am to tell you that I am DONE with my ATC's! Mailout date is the 28th. We have 5 total. Mary, Darlene, Marilyn, Marilou and myself (Dianna). So I have made one of each for each of you but I am STILL posting partners and sending a list of addresses IN CASE you would like to send one to all. I just enjoyed making these so much I made several extras to trade in an ATC group via FB. :)
Partners goes as follows: Marilyn mails to Darlene Darlene mails to Mary Mary mails to Dianna Dianna mails to Marilou Marilou mails to Marilyn
Is this covered well and if anyone has a question let me know! BTW...I reserved a hotel in North georgia for 2 days to view and possible film this eclipse! I am so excited! I am taking Sara for one day of school. It will be a part of her science class. :) HAPPY SAFE viewing!!!

Posted - Sep 01 2017 : 2:10:18 PM I think we should open a new link for the next swap. Maybe we will have other wonderful farmgirls joining! :)
So, do we (meaning everyone in this tread)start with September or wait a bit and start with October? |

Posted - Aug 31 2017 : 07:44:55 AM Will this be the Link that's under the ATC Eclipse swap? Or will you open a new link others will also see?

Posted - Aug 31 2017 : 06:39:52 AM I love those ideas! An Halloween theme would definitely be exciting, but so is Fall colors, Harvest, leaves... If everyone is up for it, why not do an exchange every month or two with thematic/holiday inspirations? Like, Fall colors(September), Halloween(October), Harvest(November), Christmas(December) and so on? We could always change and be inspired by event like the Eclipse! Those are just ideas, but I'm definitely in for more ATC swapping! :) Hugs xxx |

Posted - Aug 30 2017 : 8:23:31 PM Marilou, I am glad you got your ATC's and enjoyed the Moon Pie. That was a tiny one but they are good, I found them in a tin in the store just before the eclipse happened. It just worked in with my ATC's. hugs

Posted - Aug 30 2017 : 07:19:15 AM I totally agree Marilou! With September knocking at the door I thought of cooler weather approaching but especially the fall colors! Perhaps a fall related ATC? OR with October so close on September's heels how fun would a spooky ATC be!!!!
Chuckle...Darlene's moon pie was a perfectly fun addition to the swap! Hadnt had one of those since I was a kid! Many 'moon's ago!!

Posted - Aug 30 2017 : 07:11:09 AM I just received your wonderful cards Darlene! They are beautiful! I was intrigue by the "Moon Pie" that everyone was mentioning... What a great surprise! I didn't know it was a cake! We don't have them here or, at least, I haven't seen any yet. It was a sweet attention :)
I really enjoyed swapping with all of you! It was really a fun project and I love seeing what everyone came up with! We should do more ATC swap for different occasions!
Have a wonderful time everyone, Hugs xxx |

Posted - Aug 27 2017 : 5:06:19 PM We had fog and clouds that day but I did see some photos on the eclipse where some people went higher in the mtns to look at. It was nice. I think Oregon had some troubles a little bit because of the smoke from the fires. Kansas got a good look at it. I got to see that on someones cell phone. Very nice and awesome. They had it like midnight. It was dark and then the sun circling the moon was quite impressive. hugs and I will let you know when your ATC's arrive Marilou.

Posted - Aug 27 2017 : 2:33:06 PM Marilou, we did not have much of anything here in Texas either. A former first grade student told me she remembered looking into her shoe box in 1979 to see the eclipse. That could be my only one, unless i live to be 80 or so when the next one passes over Texas. It was fun making the cards. I'm glad I joined in this fun activity.

Posted - Aug 27 2017 : 2:23:40 PM I just received Marilyn, Dianna and Mary, all in 2 days! I was so excited to open such wonderful mail. Thanks for your beautiful cards. Marilyn, I liked how you displayed the five steps of the eclipse. Really creative! Mary, I love yours cards! So nicely made! Dianna, I love your paintings! The Sun is so joyous! Adding a charm at the bottom is a nice touch too! :) I await Darlene's, and will comment as soon as I received them. I'm sure they will also be beautiful!
I sent all mine today! I finally finished crafting 4 trios for everyone! Yay! It was hard finding some quiet time as the entry to school is coming...-_- I hope you will enjoy them and, hopefully, they will reach you before the end of September... *chuckle*
I wasn't able to view the eclipse. Here, it was a really partly one (1/16 perhaps?) not enough to be mention anywhere on the news... I hope you girls enjoyed it enough for me too! :)
Have a nice week ladies! hugs xxx |
