This swap is very similar to the Christmas and Patriotic Fabric Swap from last month. We've been talking about this in that swap. This swap involves no sewing (yet - depends on what you want to make with your fabric squares) - only buying fabric and cutting it into 10" squares. Please do not include any selvages in the 10" squares.

This is a new swap for 10" squares of Christmas Fabrics. Each person who signs up will receive 2 different 10" squares of Christmas fabric from each of the other farmgirls who sign up. A yard of fabric will make 12 squares, so the amount of fabric you purchase will depend on how many sign up.

Signups begin today: August 1
Signups end: September 1
Mail out by: September 15

When you sign up by posting in this thread, please immediately also send me your name/address/phone. The name and address is so I can make a list to send to everyone for those they need to mail fabric squares to; the phone number is in case I need to contact you for any reason.

I can't wait to see all the fabrics everyone picks out. And then to see what everyone makes with their squares. I can picture lots of Christmas quilts. What else do you have in mind?

I will send out the list of names on September 2.

Happy sewing everyone!

Linda it can actually be put on either side cause it works both ways but I love the green you chose, it really make it look 3-D.

I have started a new thread in the Stitching and Crafting Room category where we can showcase any projects made using our 10" squares. Many of us have made quilts, table runners, and other projects using them (Marilyn's Christmas quilts for kids, Beverley's Christmas Quilt, Maryellen's Valentines table runner, Judith's Valentines quilt). This will be our own Virtual Quilt Show. I started it off with my Christmas quilt top. Please join in.

Thanks, Beverley. That's the pattern you used for your Christmas quilt. I guess I copied it - LOL! - except I just noticed that I put my "shadow" sashing on the other bottom corner.

LOL! It DID turn out big! I think it will almost be a King Size when I get the border on. It is 76" x 90" without an outer border.

I do not drive in Dallas anymore. My sister lives in that area, and has since she was 20. She loves it. I hate it.

LOL! Yep! It was at the Mockingbird store - not the easiest area for me to get to and 66 miles away from me. LOL!

Just to let you know - I FOUND the fabric I needed to finish the Christmas squares top! WOO HOO! And, something to remember - because I keep all my receipts, I could give JoAnns the product number on the receipt, they looked it up on the computer, and found the ONE JoAnns store in the Dallas area that had some of the fabric. I had to drive to get it, but at least I found some. I am going to start putting the receipt with some of the fabrics I bought so if this happens again I don't have to search through 6 months of receipts. LOL!

Help! I need 1 more yard of the fabric I am sashing my Christmas blocks with. I can't believe I didn't get enough. I thought I got more than enough. It is a cream with tiny gold stars, and I bought it at JoAnns. I am going there tonight to check, but can only hope they have some of it left. On selvedge it says COPYRIGHT PROTECTED NOT INTENDED AND NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDRENS SLEEPWEAR. Here is a picture of it. If you happen to be at JoAnns, please let me know if you can find a yard.

Glad to have you, April. These squares are nice and make great quilts. I bought a "Layer Cake" of the new Star Wars fabrics (42-10" squares) to make my grandson a quilt.

Hi ladies!!! I am hand quilting my Christmas quilt. It's not fancy, just put all the squares together and am stitching in the ditch. Almost done and then I'll put on the binding. So excited to be finishing this one so I can start another one :) I'll share a pic when I'm done. I've never hand quilted before, so this has been fun and a learning experience for sure! I love the thought of having all you beautiful farmgirls represented in these squares!

Linda, I did just sign-up for the Valentine's square swap. Almost missed it! Life has been super busy with all my teenagers around here!!!

I don't know of any good contractors here - in the country it is hard to find reliable ones. There are a lot of good-ole-boys, but do not always follow through with the job or do it wrong.
* I need a concrete person to correct what another concrete guy did; it leaks into the garage every time we get a hard rain.
* I need to get the house painted and some boards around the windows replaced due to age.
* I need a rebuilt or new fence.
Does your son know anyone out here in east Texas?

I hope so. My son was recently called to a house he built a dozen years ago. A tree had fallen on the porch. When he got up on the roof he could not believe what he saw. He called the home owner and asked why he had not replaced his roof. The man said his insurance agent sent someone to look at it and they said it was fine. Wade was not happy. He asked for the Insurance man's name and called him, all while still on top of the house. A new roof was approved. It was a metal roof beaten so badly it was bent around the rafters. Wade does not build tract homes. He does custom homes and people invest a lot of their money in them. He builds a good house and does not like it when they are mistreated. I just read a post to Mike, my former student whose home was badly damaged in the Rowlett tornado. She was giving him insurance advice. In a nut shell... insurance people are not always honest. Perhaps you should ask a carpenter you trust to look at both issues and give you an estimate of the cost to repair both problems, before you talk to the Insurance company. Then you would have knowledge to argue with, if necessary.

No - no lost shingles. Ed says water is coming in around the nails in the sashing around the bottom of the window. The storms last night came with very strong winds, and sometimes just the angle of the rains cause a leak. I'd like to get it fixed, though, so we will see what the insurance says. They may say it is under my deductible, but I have a leak at the back of the house, too, so maybe between the two of them I will get something covered.

Did you lose some Shingles? I have learned that asphalt shingles should be put on in hot summer, so they will stick together. Ours were put on in Nov. And the north wind has raised some on the ridge cap.

I love it, Rebecca. I can't quite tell - did you tie it in the corner squares? I'm not done with mine yet, but hope to work on it later this week - after a call to my insurance company.

I have a roof leak that leaks into my hallway just inside the front door. Thankfully, that's a lot less damage than a lot of people are facing though.
