For this swap you will make an old timey Fan. We did one of these a couple of years ago or maybe last year. Time does fly!
For this year, we will make 5 blades to complete the fan. If you need a pattern for the blades, email me with your address and I will mail out a pattern to you. The blades need to be of sturdy cardstock or cereal boxes..not just copy paper or scrapbooking paper. Each blade will need to be covered with some sort of decorative paper, tissue paper, scrapbooking paper, something pretty. Cover the back and the front. You can make the fan fold extending ribbon at the back...or make the fan to stay open, using ribbon to secure each blade... Check out fan making on google or other search sites and it will give you ideas as to how to do the back. Now decorate the fan to your hearts content, keeping the Thanksgiving theme. I love Thanksgiving!!
This isn't as hard or detailed as it seems and the finished product is lovely. Try not to use excessive amounts of glue. Secure what needs to secure. Ideas for decoration. lace, old piece of jewelry, old pieces of sheet music, old cards that you don't know what to do with, scrapbooking paper, of course.
So just have fun and create!! 1. If you need a pattern for the blade, email me your address and I will mail one out to you. 2. Cut out 5 blades from heavier cardstock or cereal boxes and cover both sides with decorative papers. 3. Decorate each blade as elaborately as you would like. Think Victorian fans. Don't forget a tassle! 4. Sign up ends September 30th 5. Mail out by October 20th

Posted - Oct 19 2014 : 6:34:40 PM I used fabric on the fans, the postcard, and the ATC I sent because I sew and quilt and I use fabrics every day. I don't scrapbook so I have none of the decorative papers used in that hobby and I use fabrics as my medium for the ATCs, postcards, and the fan. As for the rick rack on the back of the fan, I had never made one of these fans before and when I looked on line I saw that the fans had to have some type of cording on the back to secure the fan blades so that they would only open so far.
I'm glad you like the fan and the little tucks I sent. I enjoyed making all of them for you.

Posted - Oct 19 2014 : 2:00:42 PM Linda, I did not get to open my box until very late last night; I was out till late. I absolutely love the fan. How clever to cover it with material and I really liked the rickrack on the back to keep the blades together. I would have never thought of that! It is such a beautiful addition to my fall decor. Also, the fall postcard (also covered with fabric) is adorable. I plan to use it as a coaster! The cookie cookies will certainly be used because I cook all the time. The Autumn Cinnamon Spice Candle melts smell sooooo good. And, you worried about making ATC's!!??? You shouldn't have because the "Let it Snow" ATC you enclosed is too cute for anything! I love it! You will not have problems making them....trust me.Thank you for everything.
Hugs, Portia

Posted - Sep 28 2014 : 11:30:21 AM Question: What glue do most of you use for this type of project? And for the ATCs/blocks, etc. I mostly sew, so have been away from glues for a while.
