I saw this while looking at other art things......

What do ya'll think about Chunky Wood Block Art?

Here are our partners for the block swap:

Theme for the block...After some discussion thot this might be better
The theme is garden or flowers....fairies....ocean, seaside.....you get the picture?? Have fun

**********************************************************************

Here are the ideas....

Find a piece of wood, it needs to be somewhere around 2 1/2 wide and 3 1/2 tall about the size of a paper ATC. Where to find these will be at your home depot type stores, (they will cut things around here),
construction sites throwaway piles, or your hubby's wood stock. Just so the piece is no larger than 3x5 inches.

Next you paint the block with acrylic paint (like at Michaels or other craft stores)

Then comes the fun part, your decorate the wood just as you would an ATC. Use scrapbook paper, pretty wrapping papers, and decorate to your hearts content. The sides, top, and front and back of the wood would be decorated.

This becomes a really neat stand alone piece of art to decorate any place in your home. Be sure to sign the back with your name and date.

Portia - I received my chunky wood ATC earlier this week. Sorry for the delay in posting, I have been ill.

Mary Engelbreit is so talented, I love her paper dolls and drawings so this was right on target for me. The extras were really sweet.

Thank you - Blessings,
Kristi

So glad it arrived and you enjoyed your "pretties". I enjoyed making the block and chose the mermaid theme for summer. I love to include danglies to the atc block. The sides of the block go with the mermaid theme....Enjoy

So glad you enjoyed your "pretties". I enjoyed making the mermaid block for you in honor of summer. I love to add danglies where I can. The sides go on with the mermaid theme.... and the back is a simple bird theme. Hope you enjoy the wonderful Sunday and have a great week! Smiles, Beth

I received a gorgeous wood block ATC from Beth and boy did she ever spoil me! I felt like it was my birthday when I opened my package! Thank you for everything! The mermaid woodblock is just fabulous, I love the little wooden feet you put on it. Thank you also for the vintage goodies. I just love the crochet hankie, the little boy playing the flute is next to a very old peice my grandmother passed down to me of a man playing a violin, I thought they would like to make music together. The kitchen goodies and napkins are wonderful, I am drinking my tea now and its so good. I love the recipe cards and the shoe holder, that is so clever and I've never seen anything like them. I already made a recipe from the cookie cookbook. My husband requested oatmeal cookies, and they came out perfect. Thank you Beth for everything!
