Posted - Nov 15 2013 : 12:09:57 PM Amanda...I was touched to read your note of appreciation to Connie. She does beautiful work and we are all blessed to have her join our Mail Art Group. Isn't it special how one act of kindness can just bless our hearts for a moment in time. If every Mail Artist could just remember that as she prepares her Art Piece each Month...that her work can be a vessel of Blessing in someone else's Life, Home, and Heart...then I think Nobody would want to miss being that vessel.
I will pray for your husbands addiction problem and for your heart to continue to bring peace, calmness, and stability in your children's lives and hearts.
Blessings and Hugs, Peggy

Posted - Nov 15 2013 : 11:43:21 AM Connie,
I am so sorry it has taken me this long to get to thanking you for something which has warmed our household ever since it arrived... I just had a baby and also already have a 2 1/2 year old AND run a daycare out of my home so things have left me scrambling for even a second to take care of something for me!
Connie, I am amazed at your simple embroidery work- so neat and crisp and such a wonderful choice of color. When the package arrived my 2 year old son and I brought it to the blanket that was sprawled out on the living room floor- beside his little newborn brother resting quietly nearby. I explained to him again what the mail art was and how a nice lady named Connie made something special for our family as we unwrapped the package. He was so excited and I very reverently unfolded the special cotton towel and we admired the beautiful embroidery as I explained to him that you sewed that yourself and what thanksgiving meant. When we discovered the personal tag you'd sewn in To Amanda From Connie we BOTH TEARED UP! It was truly so special and the cute magnet picture holder is on our fridge waiting for a fall photo.
Our lives have been tried recently as my children's father continues to have problems with addiction and I have done what I can each moment to hold this family together and these special treasures truly warmed my heart and gave me a moment of peace with my child.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts
All of the art being sent out is so beautiful and I am grateful to you Peggy for running this

Posted - Nov 13 2013 : 06:13:02 AM Dear "Cindy Lou,"
I received my October Mail Art yesterday, and I am delighted. I only wish I could post pictures so everyone could see my Thanksgiving treasures. Here is a description: framed applique piece with colorful button letters spelling out a Thanksgiving sentiment(where did you find these letters?), a bar of lemon-coconut soap, a notepad shaped like a fall leaf, and a chocolate bar. You are so generous! Stay warm in Minnesota. I'll be dropping you a note soon.

Posted - Nov 09 2013 : 06:02:43 AM RoDonna, I am glad that you liked the mail art I sent. I received yours the other day and it is just lovely. You did such a nice job with the stitch work. Those stitches are soooo tiny. Thanks for the recipe as well. It looks so yummy! Have a great weekend!

Posted - Nov 04 2013 : 1:51:20 PM From what I gather, many of us sent our mail art, but the recipient hasn't acknowledged receiving it. As I said before, the object is giving, and I know things happen, but please do take the time to tell your partner thank you. We can easily track down items misdirected.

I am so sorry your partners didn't follow through! That just stinks, but you are such an amazing and kind hearted person that I am not surprised that you see the good in all of it. I have been so happy to be your pen pal it is definately one of the best mail art perks so far!

Posted - Oct 30 2013 : 2:40:00 PM I feel good about giving too. I worry that those who do not acknowledge receipt or are late sending it out have something serious in their lives. I just need an update on it. I try to be on time and when I am not, I let my partners know. I think that should be a good rule to mail art by.

Posted - Oct 30 2013 : 07:51:43 AM Carol...I love your new perspective (because I know it is a blessing from God for His purpose and your benefit)...
BUT...let me just say that it is NOT ACCEPTABLE for one Mail Artist to work so hard on her Mail Art and then NOT get Mail Art from others. I have tried to purge Mail Art every so often...to get ONLY FARMGIRLS WHO WANT TO DO BE 100% COMMITTED TO MAIL ART...but as you can see we still find it isn't 100% PERFECT. I am so sorry Carol!! It's Not Right...I hope you know that this is something I continue to work on and will until we get it where it should be.
I had to decide within my own heart... a couple years ago...that no matter how many Swaps I did...I would not let a non-participant ruin my FUN. I give because I truly enjoy giving...but it is discouraging when you feel like all your efforts are very one-sided.
But like you Carol...I have the love of God flowing through my veins and I refuse to give up, stay discouraged, or let others ruin my Farmgirl FUN! There is a Christian song playing on the radio right this VERY moment...and it's called...'DON'T GIVE UP!' And some of us need to NOT GIVE UP on the JOY of giving.
REMEBER MAIL ARTISTS...DON'T SIGN-UP UNLESS YOU PLAN TO REMAIN COMMITTED TO HAVING FUN AND DOING YOUR MAIL ART PROJECT EACH MONTH!
Blessings, PeggyAnn/Mail Art Hostess

Posted - Oct 30 2013 : 05:36:33 AM Another take on mail art.
First, a huge thank you to Peggy Ann for organizing this event. She is so helpful and gracious. The first time I did mail art, I made a new friend and got my first pen pal (shout out to Sarah Hall). The next two times I did mail art, I sent but did not receive. I must admit I was disappointed, but this morning God revealed the lesson. I am to give without expecting a return, and I am to pray for the ladies assigned to me for mail art. We never know what has happened in the life of our Farmgirl Sister between signing up for a swap and actually putting that item in the mail: a death, an illness, a fire, the realization that too much has already happened. So I thank Peggy and I thank God for giving me a new perspective.
Blessings,
Carol Farmgirl 1823

It only takes a moment...but goes a long way ...of extending courtesy to someone who blessed YOU!
This continues to be a problem every month. Life does happen...but let your Mail Artist know how much you enjoyed and appreciated her Work.

Posted - Oct 24 2013 : 2:09:02 PM Becky, thank you for the very nice note, I'm glad you liked the pumpkins! The whole in the card was a big surprise when I opened them, but it worked out great. I hope you post in the gardening section about your straw bale gardening, it's always so interesting what works and what doesn't. Have a great day! Debbie |
