Posted - Aug 15 2013 : 1:26:33 PM I was thinking about the swaps like the holiday altoid tin and the jean pockets and all of the other amazing projects I have seen using reclaimed items online lately and thought it might be fun to do a swap where each person makes something new from a "salvaged" item to swap with a partner.
For example: old T shirts or jeans to make aprons, placemats and rugs; reclaimed and repurposed containers to create things like birdhouses and art; small peices of wood made into buttons, etc - the sky is the limit. This is an opportunity for you to use your creativity and surprise your partner. :)
Sign Ups will go until August 31 Partners will be posted by September 1st Mail out date of September 15th
Sorry, I am a day late posting partners, I got tied up working around the house.
We had an uneven number of farmgirls sign up, so I am taking on two partners. :)
Sorry, I am a day late posting partners!

Posted - Sep 27 2013 : 06:41:44 AM wow - way to go mom! I hope I can stitch that good at 88! That's awesome. Don't worry about the delay - life happens like that sometimes. Thanks for such a great idea for a swap Sarah. I can't do Octobers, but hopefully there will be more in the future. This was fun and gave me some great ideas for decorations and gifts!

Posted - Sep 26 2013 : 12:22:59 PM Heather, I have to confess, my 88 yr old mother was bored and took the sewing portion of the newspaper ornaments craft away from me. LOL I would have stuffed them a little plumper. Her stitches are very neat though for someone her age, no? Yes the pincushion is a bottle cap in disguise. The pattern called for felt but I used flannel instead. Glad you like everything. Sorry the hubs forgot the package in his trunk and delayed my getting it to you! :) ~ Carol

Posted - Sep 25 2013 : 11:31:43 AM Look what Carol sent me:
The cutest little hearts made from newspaper!! A beautiful pincushion that I think is from a bottle cap (that is already beside my sewing machine) a dragonfly charm, some pumpkin coffee and a cute notecard. Thanks a bunch. I really like everything. I'm thinking of trying to make some things from the newspaper like you did for fall decorations around my house. This was such a fun swap. Thanks again!

Posted - Sep 24 2013 : 11:03:39 AM The snowman is made from an empty Mentos gum container and the hat and scarf are made from a sock. :) The nose is the end of a bamboo kabob skewer painted orange. A KoolAid container would probably work too... Not sure how they are shaped though. I saw the idea for these on Pinterest and had to start chewing a lot of gum to make them. :)

Posted - Sep 23 2013 : 9:02:17 PM Sarah, I'm really glad you enjoyed everything! I was seriously contemplating finding something else to send because I really liked the wind-chime! Looks like the kiddos really enjoyed the new toy! |

Posted - Sep 23 2013 : 5:24:31 PM Check out the amazing reclaimed items Betty sent me... the chain is made from cute Christmas papers and the windchime is made from a hood pin from a race car, chains and jingle bells. I was about to run out and hang it on our little pine tree when I realized it isn't quite Christmas time yet! lol Thanks so much, I love it and really made me smile on a very rough day. <3
And you are correct, I do have cats, and a dog and everyone loves the toy you sent, so thank you from them! Izze, the cream colored cat is rubbing his face on it in this photo. Bonita swiped it from him the moment he turned his back.(Charmer, the other cat was too busy nesting in the box to be in the photo - lol)

Posted - Sep 23 2013 : 06:42:57 AM Jenny sent me the most wonderful package. First I gotta say, little fairy's must have spoke with her or how else did she know what I love some much.
When I first opened the box this is what I saw
How could she ever know that I collect spiders!!! And what a beautiful one this one is! I've hung it in my kitchen.
Then she made me the most wonderful apron. I wear aprons all the time. Just perfect.... Not to mention all the other goodies that were in the box.
Just look....
and yes that little heart is attached to and hiding in the pocket. You really touched my heart with these gifts.
What a wonderful surprise!!! I just love everything.
Again Thanks Jenny

Posted - Sep 17 2013 : 5:39:55 PM Hi Betty, no worries! I understand completely! I am sorry to hear that you have all been sick! I hope everyone is feeling better. No rush on my package at all, I just wanted to be sure you got yours, I was worried about his nose surviving the postal service! Glad to hear he made it OK and that you like it!
