-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay girls - Now it's time for our Altered Christmas Altoid tin swap! Won't you join the fun?

We just started posting pics on our Altered Autumn Altoid Tin Swap strain, so please check them out! You can also do a quick online search under "altered Altoid tin," and you'll fined oodles of inspiration!!!

Basically, you take an empty Altoid tin, and alter it inside and out using your favorite papers, paints, fabrics and embellishments. The outside should be intriguing - kind of like a book cover, it should be something that makes you just want to pry the tin open to see what's inside. Inside you might do a scene or saying on the lid, and some sort of mini 3D panorama in the "mint" part using pop-dots and cut-outs, perhaps, or any other little trinkets and images of choice... Cover the sides, too, maybe with ribbon or gimp or paint or glitter or something else fancy. And then finish off the back with something special - just be sure to include your Farmgirl name, your real name, where you live, the date and the swap name! You can get as creative with this as you want - there are no rules, really. Just have fun with it - let your creative juices flow! (Hint: If you want to flatten the raised area on your recycled Altoid tin, my hubby found the best way to do so was to rub it down with a wide flat metal chisel. This provided the added bonus of roughing up the lid in preparation for glue, paint or whatever else you might be using!)

Again, the theme this time around is Christmas - the possibilities are endless!

So... are you in? I really, really hope so!!!

- Sign ups will end November 5th.

- When signing up, please email me with your contact information so I have it ready to go.

- Please understand you CANNOT sign up for another Farmgirl. All Farmgirls MUST sign up for themselves and email me personally.

- Partners will be assigned by November 7th. I'll post the partners list here, and email you directly with your partner's contact information.

- Altered tins are to be mailed out by November 26th, so they will arrive in plenty of time to enjoy throughout the holiday season. That means if you get started on your tin now, you'll have over a whole month to finish your project and get it out to your partner in time! Let your Christmas spirit flow!

- REALLY, REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT: If for ANY reason something happens and you cannot fulfill your commitment, PLEASE just contact me so I can cover your partner, okay? I'm easy - nothing to fear! We all understand things happen, don't worry. But we also really don't want anyone hanging in the balance, so just email me as soon as you realize there's a problem and I'll take care of it. It's just the right Farmgirl thing to do!

- PLEASE NOTE: If you are open to swapping with other farmgirls who live outside of the U.S. please be sure to indicate so in your sign-up post. It's CHRISTMAS - I would love for all of our farmgirl sisters to join the fun!!!

Okay - so that's it!!! I can't wait to get started! Hope you're ready to go, too! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! That's what I'm here for!

Happy crafting!

Nini

You are so welcome Nini and I'm glad to know the package arrived
ok. The inside of the tins pics came out clear but had difficulty
getting a really clear pic of the fronts of them. Think my camera
is acting up on me again.
Loved the pics of Mary Jane and Becky's tins, they were amazing.

SOOOO cute, indeed! Awesome!

Linda - Thank you SO much for the treats and for sending me the pics of the tins. This was SO thoughtful of you! And your card is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! SUCH a talented lady!!! The tins came out soooo cute! I am having trouble scanning the pictures, though - they are coming out rather blurry. I'm going to see if my friend can scan them for me this weekend and send them via email. Maybe she can get a clearer scan for them, and then I can post them from there - the girls really need to see these awesome creations!!! :) I'll post them as soon as possible if she can get a good set of scans for us!!!

Thank you so much, girls, for participating... What do you say - shall I start a post for a Valentine tin swap??? Let me know what you think!

Hugs -

BECKY.. since my camera is working (well ONE of them is..) I took a picture of the tin I sent to you and will post it here. The outside has a little paper house that I constructed, and inside is a picture of an old-fashioned Santa and a 3-D tree (Idea on the tree from Teresa Julian's tag swap- thank's Teresa!) I just love seeing what everyone does. And hope it's okay with you .. HAVE A MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS !!

BECKY... Finally got my pics made.. I have pictures of both tins - lighting was tricky since they are so small.
Such a wonderful tin you sent! The cover is hand painted (realy nice) of a snow scene with people walkting to an old church with a really tall steeple. Winter trees covered in snow add a wonderful touch to the picture. In side there was a lovely porcelain Christma Bell.. likely handpainted also. Also came with a FUN Santa.. Pull his string and he does a little jig. Other pictures on the tin were also handmade. SOOO WONDERFUL. THANK YOU !!!

Thanks for posting the pics Nini, the tins turned out so
amazing and show off some wonderful creativity by their crafters.
Everytime I see a new picture I'm inspired all over again. They
are all so unique and special. Thanks so much for hosting this!

Hello ladies! I'm so happy to hear everyone is enjoying their tins!! Nancy - the tin you made is just SO adorable... The picture of the little girl baking is one of my favorites!

I apologize for the delay, but here are the pics of the lovely tin Denise made for me:

Isn't it just magical? I love the gilded Victorian feel - it's so, so pretty! My camera just doesn't do it enough justice! Thank you SO much, Denise! I will treasure it for years to come!!!

And, as per Denise's request, here is the one I made for her:

Please do post pictures when you can, girls - we all just really love to see each other's creations!

THANKS BECKY.. YOURS IS AMAZING! I will get pictures made end of week for all to see! I'll check to see if I remembered to take a picture of my tin too. I love to see all pictures of all the swaps..
Oh.. someone told me last swap how to upload to this forum last swap.
1st Save picture to my computer and name it.
Then look above this white frame and you will see the word "Message: [ ] " to the top left. Click on the Square. Then search for your picture, and click on it to load.
I preview it before hitting submit, cause the preview will show the picture.
I am sooo NOT techie.. this is about as techie as I can get. At least I can aske the little grandkinder for help. LOL... Happy Christmas !

Portia, thanks so much! Your precious tin arrived today and I love it.
The little doll face bottlecap magnets inside are so darn cute. Love
the stretchy Christmas bracelet that was also inside. Love how you
did the top with the pearls and little girl holding her dolly. What a
fun package to open!

Mary, a fellow buckeye who chose Texas over the snow belt!,
Last time I was able to load a picture without any problem - this time can't begin to figure it out. Thank-you for the cute tin - it has a wonderful red, snowy house (two story on front) -inside a wonderful Santa on the lid looking at a 3d tree and toys. It is really cute and I am sure it will be admired by other family members. Also in the package was a homemade Christmas card that I can send to a friend and a Christmas kitchen set (towel, potholder, etc.) Thank you so much - it definately brightened a gloomy weather day! Happy Holidays!

Have a great day, All !
