Posted - Jul 24 2012 : 05:25:19 AM O.k. Sisters! I need some help. I have become a caretaker for an old abandoned fishing resort. We are located on a small island, near the canadian border. I take a ferry with a very limited schedule. There are only four trips on Sunday! The resort is beautiful. 35 acres with a thousand feet of water frontage on the St Marys River. The birds here are amazing. I have had to remove brush and trees that have overgrown the space. The two birdhouse that are up are occupied. I am someone who has to follow a pattern for everything. I would enjoy a variety of houses and feeders. How about I learn to make two or three styles, duplicate them, and swap you all for some different styles?I'll take some pictures this weekend and post what I have so far. Thought I would post this now to see if anyone would be interested.
Don't be sorry that it's over... Be glad that it happened. |

Posted - Aug 03 2012 : 3:43:11 PM Teri, you know I didn't think about the postage being so high. Thank you for the ideas. My daughter is getting married tomorrow so we are all a bit busy. I will get some pictures posted. Lorie, I'll be sure to set up a link as we go along. This has been a dream of mine for so long. You both are welcome anytime! It is a pretty remote island. More details to come.... Off to rehearsal dinner.

Posted - Jul 24 2012 : 7:55:03 PM I'm interested in donating a birdhouse to your little island resort. Please send a link or pictures so I can determine a style. I live in Florida so I've not seen a winter birdhouse. I'd love to know more about this place too, it might make a great trip!

Posted - Jul 24 2012 : 05:40:55 AM Hi, I would love to but, the postage is to costly ... would cost way to much for me to send heavy wood box. I will share this site with you. Look around it has some pretty good boxes. We built bluebird boxes all last winter, we have sooooo many of them. Here is one site

I also use a lot of the littel nesting houses for the winter. They really work out for the cold little birds.

Good luck!
