Take a walk in the nearby woods or park, during the day or at night and capture or rescue a fairy. Make your fairy a nice home in a glass jar. Not a large jar, maybe a seasoning jar or bigger babyfood jar, or those tiny acrylic paint cans, maybe even an old cloche and cheese tray from '78. Just make sure that you can see your fairy in the jar. Make sure to decorate the lid so that your fairy does not get mistaken for seasoning salt and get shaken up.

Write a short story introducing your fairy, telling where you found her/him, and what you have put in their home. Please add any other important information about your fairy that the new guardian will need.

Sources for jars: your kitchen cupboard spices loose their potency after a year so it might be time to replace one. Your local thrift store, craft or antique store.

The fairy can be a very small 3 dimensional doll. The fairy can be a two dimensional picture. Pictures can be mounted to a piece of cardboard and then attach to small wooden block so she can be "free standing" in the bottle. These are just ideas, you could make your fairy out of shrink art or anything you like, maybe clay?

Bottom line requirements:

Small container as described above.

Fairy.

Decorate inside and top of jar.

Write a little story.

Senders choice, no theme, except fairies.

Requirements: You must have 250 posts, or be a member of the Farmgirl Sisterhood. Sorry Newbies, I wouldn't want to fairy, I mean angel this swap. If you are close to requirements, email me. Anyone interested?

Mail out will be by the end of June.

Trish,
My fairy arrived but the box was smashed and the lid came off. I will put it back together and post a photo. Thank you, those flowers you made are really nice!

Oh LORA.

She is adorable.. and soo worth the wait. A little princess with butterfly wings has flown into my home and sits on my kitchen window sill. (I hope she moonlights as the dish washing fairy, but that might be beneath her status. LOL!)

I love the jewel touches and her "toad stool" when she just wants to sit and read. And she came with her lovely fairy book and stickers so she can reminisce about her fairy friends.

Thank you so much. She is just the cutest ever !

Mary... (tried to capture her on picture.. but alas the neighboring troll stoll my camera. We are waiting for a dark, moonless night to put on our ninja outfits and get it back.)

Emily,
I didn't take any pictures:( I did glue the nest into the bottom of the jar and then glued the fairy into the nest.

Diane,

Did you happen to take any pictures of the fairy jar you sent? I was hoping to see it with the real birds nest. Do you do anything to hold them together? I know they must be pretty sturdy if momma and all the babies can stay in it, but I wasn't sure if you had to do anything to them.

Trish,
It is a real nest. Every year some finches make nests in my hanging ferns. I take them out in the fall and collect them along with other bird nests.

Yes, Diane, thank you, I did get her. I have been very busy, sorry I didn't mention it earlier. Is it a real bird's nest?

How true, but this move was from out of the rental back into a motel. Yikes. Looks like the house might be done in about 5 weeks. I have a couple of things to add to your fairy then I will send her. I found a couple of cute things that just have to go with her!

Sorry for the delay!

Hi Lora.. hope the move wasn't to stressful on you.. at least you had a little fairy to help with some of the details... You take care and try to settle in. LOL.. It takes me a longggg time to even figure out where the "new" light switches are after I move. I keep trying to "turn on " blank spots on walls. So silly.
Have a Great Day!

I received my fairy - she's adorable. I will post a picture just as soon as the craziness in my life takes a five minute break. Your fairy made the move with us. I am hoping to get her ready to ship on Wednesday as I have that day off. I was so busy moving out of the house this weekend, I didn't get her mailed. Soooooo Sorry.

thank you so much. She really made my day when she arrived.

Take your time - I am still trying to get her to tell me her name. She's a stubborn one! I told her if she didn't tell me soon, I would give her a name.

Sounds like so much fun! Are there unmatched farmgirls that want to do this and don't have a partner? There is still 12 days left in the month.... (if we could still get in!!!!) Howz about it?!?!?!?
