Dear Karriann, Glad you received your stocking...We all have been "stood up" at one time or another with swaps, but we try to think good thoughts and go on. We never know what goes on in each others' lives...We need to try to remember that we can never know from hour to hour what might happen. I am sorry for your disappoint, but it has all worked out...Smiles, Beth And as I have said many times, if you have not received a swap that I host, please let me know and I will angel the swap for you...It makes me sad for folks to have sad feelings or hurt feelings...

I would like to say few things for these are important.

"C O M M U N I C A T I O N" is KEY!!!
If the communication had been established, I would not have been heartbroken especially during Christmas season. It would have saved me from disappointments. If I had known that my stocking was sent at all, even if it was sent late, my feelings would not have been through a wringer.

With that said, I received my package today. I saw the return address and noticed that it was the address of where i sent my stocking gift to. I was actually puzzled for I wasn't expecting anything recently. After I opened the box, my eyes saw the pretty white stocking. All kinds of emotions came flooding in my heart, all bitter-sweet. I then closed the box lid to read the postage stamp date. It was marked December 18. Gee! No wonder that the post office is going out of business. It took more than 30 days from New York to Georgia! Ridiculous! Although, had I known that my stocking was on it's way to me... things would have been different!

It has been stressed numerous on this site on various threads about how important communication is but for some, this message is not getting through. I understand how embarrassing it could be to have to email or message to a farmgirl and admit that somewhere along the way we have fallen short and then have to admit it. There is no need to do that in open forum, email privately to the one would spare many hurt feelings.

One more thing that would also help, an additional 80 cents at the post office for the delivery confirmation would at least show where that wonderful gift is. This is not perfect system for it has it flaws too but at least you have a way to track it through the post office if a problem arise.

Avonfemme, I still have not heard from you about you receiving my gift nor that you sent mine. I wish to say that all of this could have been avoided if we just emailed each other. Please forgive me for being harsh with my last email. I just wish that I had known that you did send my gift (they're all very nice by the way) and that you did get my gift even though the delivery confirmation said it had arrived. Thank you for my gift. I will do pictures soon to share with the gals for we all know that they all love to see! Please know that I hope all is well with you and yours and I am sorry for assuming things.

My stocking came today! I'm sure it has a grand story of it's journey from halfway around the world. Monique in the Netherlands sent me an adorable mitten with a vintage Santa on it. Filled with all sorts of Dutch goodies. Including some Delft items, a vintage embroidered tea towel, an adorable Santa appliquéd towel, sweet tin ornaments and the cutesy Dutch hotpad! Thanks so much! Happy New Year everyone!

Hi Ginny!
I can't believe how many little packages you stuffed in my stocking. I kept pulling out one gift after another! First of all, I love the owls...an ornament and pin cushion! My dear aunt, who passed away several years ago, loved owls. I didn't think much of them until after she passed...then I realized what magnificant creatures they are. Now whenever I see them I think of her. So those two gifts you gave me will warm my heart when I look at them! The hand lotion is perfect. I've been wanting to get a smaller bottle to put in my school bag but never have for one reason or another. My hands thank you from saving them from this Wisconsin winter! The crocheted doily will go perfectly on a little round table I have. The little notepad will be useful in my car. I'm always writing things on little scraps of paper and then losing them! This will solve that problem! I love velvet ribbon! :) I can actually see the pink ribbon and that pretty pearl-like beading making it on to some of my valentines this year! And the tea from your herb garden! It smells so good and very interesting combinations.....banana mint? Where do you get the banana from and how do you get it in the tea bags? How fun. I am going to have to do some research on making my own tea now that i've seen this!

The stocking I made for you...I wouldn't blame that on my friend :) She got me started on the sewing machine and let me go....hence the "funky toe" as I like to call it! lol! I know you said you don't sew, but you should! I really love the stocking you made me. And I got the charm with my initial! I thought that was really sweet of you to send to me! :)
I thought you could use the knobs! I don't know if you have it out there, but we have a store called Hobby Lobby. They have a pretty big selection of all kinds of knobs. I went there to get one for a cute little tool box I bought and remembered how you upcycle furniture. If you ever need some more or a different type, let me know - they have a lot to choose from!
Trader Joe's is fun, isn't it? That was the first time I had been there. I actually wanted to you get you Peppermint Joe Joes but they were sold out. My cousin had sent me a box one year and I thought they were great so I was disappointed that I wouldn't get to put any in your stocking!
The craft store you were talking about sounds like so much fun. It's always a disappointment when a shop you like closes down, but what a treasure for it to open back up! I'm sure you had a lot of fun going through it and finding treasures
Thank you for everything Ginny!

Emily - A BIG BIG THANK YOU Sweetie! You outdid yourself stuffing my stocking and the stocking itself is wonderful! I now know what Shabby Chic is and it's beautiful! Girls, check out my picture below, Emily, who says she doesn't sew, made this stocking with the help of a friend I think, and all the craft goodies will be well used doing mail art on MJF! I feel badly because what she got was nothing compared to what she sent me! AND I got Trader Joe's cookies! I only see Trader Joes when I go to Portland Maine, a 4 hour drive each way! So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I've put my Good Cheers sign up for New Years and I think it will stay up all year. The necklace is beautiful and I just might get to wear it! I am allergic to nickle and can never wear metal jewelry because of it, but this one I may get away with!

Also the knobs are wonderful! I've been looking for unique knobs as I am upcycling something I got at a yard sale to put all my aprons on and other than the ones in my basement that go to doors, I haven'tbeen able to find really unique ones in town so that was awesome to receive! I may just put the cast iron hook on this thing I'm talking about too! I have a huge apron collection. I love the S & P's too and no, I don't have them. I'm sure I missed something but I love it all, thanks again! You can shop for yourself and send it to me anytime,

P.S. I don't know if you are aware of this but I live 100 miles to the nearest craft store, 60 miles just to get to the nearest stop light. I didn't go out of town to get anything for you. I did go to an old craft store that closed at least 15 years ago and just re-opened a couple of months ago and while they sell the craft items left from the old store, they have added "stuff". Most of the "craft items" are right out of the 1980's! So the vintage things are really vintage! BTW, the earrings I sent are to be used as embellishments, or at least that was my thought when I got it all.

Thank you again!

HI Luanne- I am so glad that you enjoyed all of your stocking treats!! The actual stocking was knit by someone else and I bought it at a craft fair locally. This was such a fun swap and if we get a chance to repeat it next year, I am in!!

Thanks Beth for arranging this for us. It was a stroke of genius!

Hi Winnie -

I just got home from Vermont late last night, so finally got to open my stocking (beautifully knit - did you do it yourself)? Thank you so much - it was so much fun to see all the goodies you picked out for me - 2 yummy skeins of yarn, the cute pin on teh stocking, the Amish cookbook, simmering potpourri, hand blended coffee, the crocheted dishcloth, tea pot and tea cup buttons, hand made soap, the bee tooth brush holder, and of course chocolate! I feel so spoiled!

This was such a fun swap - hope we can all do something similar again next year.

Big farmgirl hugs and thank you's!

Luanne

Luanne- Wow, what an awesome surprise this morning with my stocking!!! You totally spoiled me with Red Tractor goodies. I just love the tractor magnet, and fabric and mug. And the two knitted dishcloths are just beautiful. Your beautiful cards that you made were amazing too. And then there were all of the other festive and practical items: Christmas kitchen towel, potholder, and magnetic paper pad for all those necessary lists!! Thank-you so much for making this swap just the Best ever!! It was so worth waiting for Christmas morning to open. My family was all hovered around me in fascination. What is a Farmgirl swap???? They were all excited too as I unwrapped each item. Thanks again for helping to make my Christmas morning special!!!

Oh Karieanne,
I agree with Peggy! Even though you may be feeling down and out right now- there are certainly sisters here who care about you!! I remember when you posted a few months back about owing on swaps and promising to make good on them. If you go back and read those responses to your post there really was nothing but support for you! We DO care. I totally understand how you feel- I too have been burned on swaps and it hurts. But to say that there is no one here who cares about you, is too broad a statement. We do care. And even though it may seem that your partner has abandoned you ( and perhaps she really has- I dont know for sure)- there just might be the possibility that something has gone so off kilter in her life right now that she can not hold up to her end of the bargain at this moment. I pray that she is ok and that she will connect with you and follow through. If not- I too would be happy to fill a stocking for you and brighten your day!
Please re-consider "giving up" on farmgirls.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Hugs,

~Laurie
