Posted - Jul 15 2026 : 07:04:28 AM I have been learning how to upcycle clothes for years. But I haven't made any in a while. So, last year I got the bug again to start. I had a lot of my Mom's clothes that were very pretty and that I didn't want to give away. So, I started with one of her shirts and made a pocket out of the cuff for my shirt. Here is the video tutorial: https://youtu.be/orcGEVdBX98?si=BUm-7NIaDcR9J24S I have another video showing how I added embroidery from a pillowcase to my t-shirt. And one showing how to make a tote bag (super easy) out of a t-shirt. I also found a wonderful group of women who really support your upcycling journey that I would encourage you to join with me:https://www.skool.com/refashionrebels/about?ref=a29e6ac2e2b94537b142d43cf5abfa80

Posted - Jul 15 2026 : 10:25:46 PM I did check it out but it appears to focus on selling what you remake/upcycle. I'm not into doing a business; I'm retired and enjoying it.

Posted - Jul 15 2026 : 4:41:29 PM The group that I mentioned in my first post has a wonderful, creative group of women who know how to upcycle anything and make it fit their needs. Pop over and check them out. There is a topic with social media links. This includes their YouTube channels. That's where the great inspiration comes from for me.

Posted - Jul 15 2026 : 1:29:02 PM I think it's a great idea to have a place here to show our upcycles. I'm sure a lot of Farmgirls do it. I made a quilt with the legs of old jeans and denim is also good for making indestructible catnip bags. I remake soft old long sleeve blouses for summer use by cutting off the sleeves and am currently trying to figure out a way to reuse a dress that I love but is too short. Todays fashions aren't appropriate for this old lady -- I like my knees covered.

Posted - Jul 15 2026 : 10:58:20 AM That sounds like a really good project to turn a pair of jeans into a skirt. I took a pair of my husband's old jeans and cut the legs off and made a placemat. It turned out really cute. Here is the video tutorial showing what I did. https://youtu.be/op5fK35e55o?si=ZSC26PoJ5FMkr8Jc
