Posted - Apr 21 2013 : 1:06:59 PM I wanted to take a minute to share my excitement about a great little "up-cycling" project I completed.
First, on a whim, hubby and I visited the local thrift store the other day. It happened to be 25% off clothing that day and I found this dress that I paid $5 for:

Unfortunately, I am (amazingly) not blessed with the tiny little rib cage required to fit into the bodice of this dress. So I decided to upcycle it into something that fit!
After a few snips & stitches, some elastic and of course, vintage crocheted lace...I have the best skirt EVER!

What farmgirl fashion projects have you upcycled? I love to sew things from scratch, but sometimes I get much more satisfaction from making something like this into something "my own". How about you? I'd love to see some pictures of your creations. Please share! |

Posted - Aug 02 2014 : 4:26:08 PM I love it! You did a beautiful job! I get most of my clothes at thrift stores...alot of times they need just a little change to be perfect. My ample bosom means getting the next bigger size and taking other parts in sometimes. I find things I really love at thrift shops! |

Posted - Sep 17 2013 : 8:09:50 PM I like to find bright, colorful, skirts at thrift stores or yard sales and use them to cover old throw pillows or use them for pockets and trim work on aprons. Just started a new chapter in Valdosta, GA and will use this as an afternoon project for my farm girls. enjoy chatting Linda
Be thankful for a new morning and the blessings shared through out the day. |

Posted - Sep 14 2013 : 6:31:30 PM I love going thrift store shopping. So many wonderful items just waiting to be used and upcycled. They are wonderful places especially for children's clothes as children go through their clothes so fast!!!

Posted - Jun 06 2013 : 05:43:32 AM I am inspired. I find it so hard to find skirts that are the right length and fit correctly. There are some beautiful fabrics to be had in thrift-store dresses. Thanks for sharing. |
