I rarely go to movies, but tagged along to The Help last night. I WANT EVERY OUTFIT IN THIS MOVIE!!! It takes place in the 60s, and there are so many, many adorable dresses and beautiful hairstyles--my mind was going 100 mph every time someone had a wardrobe change! Darts, pleats, full skirts--more, please!!

Tell me someone else saw the movie and knows what I'm talking about when I say that I want to make and wear every single dress of most of the characters in the movie! Gorgeous!

I hope to see the movie tomorrow - just finished the book. Loved it. I remember the late 50s and early 60s too. I remember my great Aunt Lena was always dressed to the nines - lovely dresses, high-heels, white gloves, and her purse - and yes, an apron when she was home.

Read the book and can't wait to see the movie. Gave the book to my daughter so she could read it too. I was a kid in the '50's and can remember those fashions my mother and the neighbor women wore all the time and of course the aprons - the neighbor lady across the street always had one on no matter what. Really loved those dresses!

Can't those fashions be summed up with one word, "ladylike"? I am happy to report that I've noticed a trend back toward that decade. Check out Talbot's website;then copy the idea in a less costly way.

Be sure to read the book. The movie was wonderfully faithful, but the book really brings home the point of what a risk the women took.

Hubby and I saw the movie, and loved it! Read the book also! The clothes were wonderful, just the type my mom wore. And she looked so good in them. I noticed the aprons also. I especially liked the pink one that I think Minnie wore, I want to see it again to look for the apron, and would love to find the pattern. Have a great week end! Linda

I was born in 1952 and grew up with these fashions. I too wish they would come back. I thought my Mom was the most beautiful in these styles. Oh, BTW, Billy Bob Thornton, Robert Duvall and Kevin Bacon were in my town last month working on the movie "Jane Mansfield's Car". I loved the clothes. It brought back a lot of memories.

I saw the movie last night and agree with you on the fashion. Those women were always dressed to the nines...but of course they had "The Help!".

YES!! I actually wouldn't be surprised if something akin to the 50s and 60s women's clothing did make a comeback--what with Kate Middleton's propensity for elegant lines and designs that flatter the natural feminine form. MAN, and I GLAD that someone with so much influence over the fashion world has good taste! :)

Haven't seen it yet but it's the first movie in ages that I've been tempted to actually go to a theatre to see! I was born in 1955 and don't quite remember those fashions but I got hooked on them when I watched Mad Men back when we had cable. Love the full skirts! Every other era has come back in fashion, why not this one? Is it time finally?

Oh, I know what you mean! I adore the clothes from the 1950's and 1960's and they had the prettiest nightgowns too!!
