Posted - Mar 30 2010 : 1:07:54 PM How do you fix you hair? Since mine is pretty long, wavy, not to thick and not to thin, I like to wear mine up sometimes in a bun, and then sometimes I leave it down. I love to braid it too. Hugs, hannah

Posted - Apr 12 2011 : 1:14:19 PM My hair is extremely thick and coarse. Wearing it long is a nightmare, and is also not the most flattering. I wear it in a chin-length angled bob. It is naturally quite wavy/curly, so I sometimes let it go naturally - otherwise I dry it straight and then flat iron it.
I've worn it short for years, varying between pixie (love how easy it is!) to shoulder-length. |

Posted - Apr 09 2011 : 6:26:39 PM I too have fallen victim to the "cut it now" mistake. I've always ended up hating it. If the Lord gave it to me for a covering, & my honey loves it long...I'll just put my scissors away, thank you! Just saw the note on helping hair to grow; wasn't intending for growth, but I used an herbal Beautiful Hair Treatment (has a little color tint, but just a shine enhancer really) from www.bulkherbstore.com & noticed that my hair grew alot faster in the month following. It's very messy, & doesn't smell great, but the shine was amazing! I love all their herbs & mixes...haven't been disappointed yet! It's worth a try...

Posted - Apr 09 2011 : 6:18:49 PM Have a "Klutz" book on braiding and such (for grown ups!), and it has some really beautiful styles in it, just takes a little practice. Mine & my girl's hair are long, mostly straight (mine has a little more wave after having babies), & we are trying to start to do more than just a ponytail or 1/2 up 1/2 down (that's our usual). My daughters love a flip thru with the "tail" braided in three & gathered back up & tucked in the flip thru. (Much less complicated than it sounds!) I will try & remember to post a picture...it's very pretty!

Posted - Mar 26 2011 : 12:12:07 PM Connie...I am a pixie girl, too. I'm not pettite like you (actualy I'm 5'9"), but I have a quirky cute quality that makes me look quite elfish. My sister is classicaly beautiful and it use to bother me that I wasn't the same, but in my mid 20's I came to the realisation that I really didn't want to be beautiful. My looks suit my personality and I'm happy with that. As for hair...again I agree with you, I just cant wear mine long, I feel like I disapear beneith it. It just doesn't fit me. I love to wash and run and my super short haircut is perfect for that.

Posted - Mar 25 2011 : 3:57:20 PM My hair is thick, straight, and really slick. Meaning it won't take a curl and hold it. It does not matter how much product I use. I color it cause I would be silver haired if I didn't. Nothing wrong with that but I was in my twenties when it started turning, just like my mom. I did not want to be my children's grandmother. Most folks thought my mom was my grandmother. So I still color it at 54. When do you stop once you start? I am 5'2'' and weigh about 100 lb give or take 7 lb depending on the season. OK OK don't hate me. It is all genes. I wear my hair very short. Wearing it long drags me down. I mean that literally and psychologically. I call it a reverse Sampson disorder. I envy those that can wear their hair MaryJane style. So feminine. I'm more of a pixie. I've always said that I may be called "cute" but because of my size I'll never be called "beautiful" at least not in the traditional sense. I'm not complaining. I've moved past that at my age! Connie

Posted - Feb 27 2011 : 5:30:29 PM I am so glad to finally have hair that completely covers my head. It is gray and getting a little fringy over the ears, but after being banished by chemo, it is coming back. Glory be! I have a box of stuff to color it but my DIL and sister say to keep it the way it is! I'm gonna color while it is still short. I just had my first haircut last week after not having any hair. I like the idea of wash and go. It even has a bit of curl to it!Betty in Pasco |

Posted - Feb 22 2011 : 9:05:32 PM Corrine, your hair sounds cute! Right now mine is a little crazy! I have blonde highlights in the front, and I have choppy bangs, but I'm growing my hair out so that when I'm a senior, I can cut it for our Locks of Love event at school. But they'll only be able to cut the back part because you cannot donate bleached hair! God's and Farmgirl's Blessings, Megan aka Loretta Rae

Posted - Feb 22 2011 : 6:44:20 PM I am growing my hair out...haven't had it cut or highlighted since last May;/ ...I know, I know...not a good idea, but I am trying to grow it long and the hairdressers always chop it. Something about me being very short (4'9"), short girls should have short hair...but I don't agree. So, I usually wash and condition everyday...add a leave in conditioner and just blow out my bangs. It is long enough now to be worn in a clip as a pony tail, or pulled up and sometimes I pull back my bangs and also bun the back....DH says I look Amish when I do that....;) Rarely do I leave it down anymore except when I go to bed. The wind just ruffles my wavy hair even more and it looks quite dishelved. But, I do love long hair....it is just taking forever to grow. |

Posted - Jan 24 2011 : 07:54:11 AM I love the ideas everyone has posted! I really needed some inspiration! I had waist length hair, then I didn't know what to do with it so I cut it really short, let it grow out, got married and it was almost to my waist and in a moment of madness I cut it just below my shoulders with some side swept bangs. Now I'm back to where I started when I had long hair. What to do?! Lately I have been pulling my bangs up with hair pins so they stay out of my face since they decided to grow out un even. Now I think I will try some headbands or some pretty clips for my bangs so maybe my hair won't look so plain! I have really thick, heavy but fine shafted hair so I need to get layers in it to lighten it up, especially when I have it down to my waist. I think I will go with my husbands advice and just keep it long once it grows out again, I will just keep looking on here for inspiration on how to fix it so I won't get so bored with it! I'm so thankful for these forums, since we just moved to a new area in between the holiday's I haven't been able to get out and meet new friends so I depend on this for my "girl time"!
