Posted - Jan 12 2017 : 8:33:46 PM Hi girls -
Also, I saw the greatest thing on one of my favorite author's websites, and thought I should share because I know so many of us like to knit and crochet...
Donna Marie Cooper O'Boyle decided that she wasn't going to use wasteful packaging when shipping her books anymore. She decided instead to make it her mission to pack her books with handmade scarves that the recipient can in turn gift to a person who is homeless or in need to help keep them warm this winter. This is all part of "Holy Scarves" mission, "Warming the Homeless with LOVE, Scarves and Sacramentals," which you can read more about here: http://www.donnacooperoboyle.com/blog/2015/11/12/so-happy-to-offer-holy-scarves-to-the-homeless/
I thought this was such a wonderful idea! Caring for others in this way is totally a farmgirl thing to do! Maybe we could pass a farmgirl nod to Mrs. O'Boyle's efforts to care for those in need by shipping OUR OWN goodies wrapped in scarves to be shared!
And, of course, I am sure the ministry could use your help, if you would like to mail scarves directly to Mrs. O'Boyle for her to distribute. Again, more information about that can be found in the article. :)
Either way, this is just such a phenomenal idea. This is the time of year when hats, scarves and gloves start going on clearance every where you go. I may not have time to knit right now, but I'm definitely going to be picking up a few clearanced winter warmies to tuck into my own shipping boxes during the holidays next year! :)
What do you think?
