Posted - Jan 29 2016 : 11:17:25 PM I spotted this great idea on Pinterest... a tote bag made from old pillow cases.. just cut and hem.
keep it simple or bling it up... and what a great beginner sewing project for a youngster learning to sew. after cutting the 2 side pieces,, lay the top (handle) piece on top of each other and make several rows of stitching to make the handle. Or you could just knot/tie the two ends together.
this is such a kid friendly project! (and middle aged lady too! )

Posted - Feb 15 2016 : 1:52:34 PM These look so easy and fun. Thank you for showing how to make one. I am going to look through my pillow cases and see if I have any I can repurpose. They would make for a great bag to carry toys around in. I am thinking of making one as a gift.

Posted - Feb 13 2016 : 08:57:57 AM ok,, in between other "have to do's" I did a quick tote, well 2... My trusty fabric guard cat was busy making sure I stayed on track... lol! yes, I get easily distracted! lol!
2 pillow cases, the blue is a standard and the brown is a queen size.
lay length wise, and eye ball it,,, and cut out the handle... you can fold and machine stitch the raw edge under or just zig zag stitch the raw edge,,, or don't even sew the edge...there is no wrong or right way to make these... save the scrap piece and make YoYo's to decorate your tote.
for a complete no-sew... just tie the handles together or you can lap them over each other and stitch them together.
Happy Shopping!

Posted - Jan 30 2016 : 5:55:50 PM Denise,, I am always using and washing my totes... and after awhile they just are beyond use, so replacing them w/repurposed pillow cases is a easy peasy idea... and these would make great Library book tote bags too! I use totes for the P.O. as well (we use a P.O. Box for our mail)... so many ideas.
