I am going to Las Vegas for the first time for a work related conference. This is my first big adventure on my own and I am a little bit nervous. I will be there a couple of days outside of the conference dates due to flight scheduling and I am looking for affordable things to do. One of my all time favorite things to do is second hand and thrift shopping. Are there any thrift shops I should check out while I am in Las Vegas? I will be staying at Ceasars, so the closer to my hotel the better.

Walgreens has them for about $10 and perhaps even other drug stores or places like Kmart etc. Have a good time in spite of all the caution.

Thanks so much Annie! I don't even know what an RFID credit card holder is but I am going to look it up right away. And thanks for the other tips as well, I really appreciate that!

Hi Sarah,
I live just a few miles from the strip and we enjoy going to Antique Mall of America on S. Las Vegas Blvd. It is on the right hand side of the street before you get to the Southpoint Casino and Hotel. (coming south on Las Vegas Blvd from your hotel). They have a website and feature over 100 booths. It is too far to walk. Just letting you know that Town Center Mall has Tommy Bahamas restaurant, California Pizza Kitchen, and is a bit more affordable to eat at then in the major hotels. Also, the cafe in the corner of the atrium at the Bellagio has coffee shop menu's with standard breakfast, lunch items, and dinner for less and has ambiance. The atrium is a do not miss and most likely still has their fall display. There are also Las vegas Outlet stores on the left hand of Las Vegas Blvd that you can walk through. The only other antique mall is on Eastern and Sunset, but it is on the other side of the airport area. It is a great antique mall. These are the only two anatique stores we recommend to go to. (We've been in other smaller ones but they were dotted with costumed sex fantasy "service" clerks) and we think the stores were fronts for "the darker side" of Las Vegas. Be careful with your credit cards and keep them in a RFID protection holder as many have "readers" that lift credit card info from your purse electronically without even taking your wallet. All they have to do is walk by you. Have a good time, be safe and do not help anyone! It is a diversion tactic. Annie

Thanks Heather! I am looking forward to it for sure, but am also nervous having never travelled by myself!

Sara,
I was in Vegas from a Monday to a Friday for my sisters wedding. We never left the strip and I didn't even see 1/2 of what there was to see. There are so many shops in the all of the hotels that you could spend days walking through them all. There are all kinds of maps and brochures to pick up though. Look online too. I hope you have a fun trip. It was quite an eye opener for me!!!
