We are making plans to save up to buy a large freezer. Any tips on what months they are the least expensive, or tips on best stores and brands would be helpful.

Probably in the spring or summer if you're looking for used.

I've started to look at them as well. I have 1/2 cow in my upright freezer. Our pig is going to slaughter either at the end of the month or beginning of next so I need somewhere to put that meat. Not to mention the chickens I'm buying this week. Uggh! I hope the best time is this month!

I don't know if you have a Jewel Food Store in your area but every spring they offer a freezer for $159.00. It comes with $160.00 in coupons for their store. Here: http://jillcataldo.com/node/15382 a blogger talks about it.

I need a bigger freezer than what they offer. Also, I dislike the "coffin" type coolers.
