Our printer broke. My kids are saving their school work on a drive and printing at school for now. It used 92 and 93 ink, which was cost effective for our household.

Can you help me locate printers that use this ink? We have a scanner that works, so I don't really want to invest in an all-in-one, unless you all can tell me the cost of the ink (if you have one).

Here is what we had:

On amazon, to replace this exact one brand new is $179.00, which is wayyyy beyond our budget right now.

I would love any advice and help to keep our costs as low as possible.

Try looking for one of these printers: http://www.staples.com/HP-92-Black-Ink-Cartridge-C9362WN/product_606325

It also matters what OS you are running on your computer. We were using a very nice HP 3600n printer but it doesn't work reliably with Win7- only up to Vista.

Cables don't wear out if taken care of properly......make sure they don't kink and don't unplug them by pulling on the cord. Just like any cord, normal care and they will last.

I found out the hard way that the USB cables can wear out causing a printer to malfunction.
