Posted - Oct 08 2011 : 08:56:45 AM My FIL made this dresser about 40 years ago. It has sat in our garage and we basically use for storage of "stuff". I'd like to repurpose but not really sure what to do with it. There are 3 drawers on the right, a cupboard w/shelves on the left and a large drawer the width of the dresser on the bottom. I thought maybe we would use it in our bonus room for game storage/linen drawers OR maybe as a sewing area that I could keep all my craft/sewing items in. Ideas/inspiration??? THANK YOU!!! http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g338/SabrenaO/IMG_8371.jpg

Here is a really neat way of refurbishing a dresser. One of the gals here posted this:

Posted - Oct 09 2011 : 7:50:56 PM What about decoupage sewing patterns on the doors/drawers. Then use chalk paint on the remainder/ distress the edges and make it look one of kind. Maybe even use spools for drawer pulls.

Posted - Oct 09 2011 : 10:58:45 AM Thank you for your ideas and inspiration~ all of you are so wonderful!!! I am going to get started right away on refurbishing this piece! My children's grandfather made this for their dad when he was a newborn so I want to preserve and pass down to them and their children. This might be an awesome piece in our family room too!!! I love the idea of the chalkboard and wallpaper!! It might take me a while but I'll post pictures when it's finished!

Posted - Oct 08 2011 : 3:49:46 PM Love that piece of furniture! I used to have a studio that specialized in painted furniture and that piece would have been one that I would love. I think paint it and maybe some chalkboard paint on the big door so you can write little notes or pictures! I also like the doors/drawers wallpapered. Good luck and post photos!

Posted - Oct 08 2011 : 09:28:17 AM I think maybe paint it or use a wash. Then some new hardware and it would be perfect for use in your bonus room. It looks very sturdy and well made.
