I have recalled people making those draft dodger things homemade. I have lots of extra fabric that I would love to make some for my old farmhouse. I know there are two different kinds the round roll kind that when you open the door it just stays there and you walk over it and the kind that has a roll on each side of the door that stays on the bottom of the door.
How would you make the kind that opens with the door? Just add a piece of fabric and slide it under the door?
Does anyone have any experience with making these that could give me some words of wisdom to save me time with making one trial and error style? THanks in advance!!!

Krystle I made this last year..i just measured the door and stuffed the draft stopper with poly fill. I made it out of an old sweatshirt. The whole thing slides under the door and works excellent!

I have heard of some sewers using swimming noodles in them too.

Oh Lila! You gave me an idea lol. Next time I go to cut up an old pair of jeans, I'll just sew it "equal" & stuff it for along the door! That would be about the right length for a regular door, so I'm thinking maybe 2 for a patio door :). Awesome - thanks so much! I may have to buy a big bag of rice or something to go in it :p.

I made several of these measure your door across the bottom; last year I cut an old scrap of a quilt into two 6" strips the length of the bottom of your plus a an extra inch. Stitch 3 sides up leaving on end open. Put some fiber fill or old rags in it part of the way probably about 6 inches or so; continue filling with cat littr or rice. stitch that end shut yippee! Denim would work; upholstery would and when you open the door the bottom of the door will push the draft stop out of the way,

I wish I did! That's one of my projects this fall. From my memory you actually measure your door, cut out the fabric, and sew it between those two rolls.
I need to make 3 of those this year. are you filling yours with rice or something else?
