Posted - Sep 03 2011 : 8:07:32 PM I found an old plaster picture frame at a tag sale which had the uggliest scratched picture in it. Took the picture out, painted the frame gold, had hubby attach it to ceiling around an antique light fixture. I then painted the inside of the frame blue to look like the skiy. My own vintage sky light with an warm and classy feeling!

Posted - Sep 14 2011 : 4:41:06 PM Repurposing picture frames is one of my favorite things to do. If they don't have glass in them and I want it I get "picture" glass from our local glass shop for next to nothing. I've also had them put mirror glass in some of the frames which is a bit more costly than glass, but still very inexpensive. I do papercrafting and like to mount and frame papercraft cards and embellish them with buttons, flowers, ribbon, etc. and I do that without glass. But I repaint as I want, or if I like the way they look I leave them. Sooooooooo many possibilities. CJ

Posted - Sep 11 2011 : 7:54:41 PM this year for memorial day, i purchase wooden frames @ thrift stores for 50 cents and a quarter; then utilized thrift store silk flowers and made wreaths for my family graves the only major purchase was "burlap" ribbon from Wallie world.

What a great idea! I've seen old picture frames hung in groupings with nothing in them and it looks great - but I've never seen one around a light fixture. Please post a picture - I'd love to see it.
