I have found so much cool stuff over the summer (I have more time to go and look), I wanted to share! Please post your cool finds too! Most of mine were from thrift stores, or a local thrift store warehouse. I don't care for them as it takes WAY too long to find something, BUT on occasion I do- like this burlap bag full of beans! I thought I could make the bag into a pillow. Will see if the beans are any good! $6.00, because it was sold by weight.

My foley food mill, $3.00 and french bistro pitcher, 1 qt. size, $1.50 (half price). I always keep water on the dining table...

Breadbasket $1.50, just dusty and touched up with "old english"

Bread slicer, was missing the end, we cut some scrap plexiglass, works great!

Foley 5 cup sifter, $4.00 vintage store, works!

My husband found a camera tripod, for $6.00, worth over $100.00, boy was he happy!

Pocketwatch clock from the local Habitat Re-Store, $1.50, broken clock part, swapped from an old one I didn't want anymore. Cute! I saw something very close in the Pottery Barn catalog yesterday, was much smaller and over $60.00, wow! It's about 14" across...

I should add- I have gotten great deals over on eBay too-
brand new, never worn, black, smooth leather clogs, Halflinger brand, $30.00 (for work), usally around $100.00 new. I HAVE to wear good shoes, stand alot on my job....

Wool sweater, $10.00 like new, was $65.00 new, I had the same one, years ago, wore out, like new! What a find!

Post your cool finds! Let's inspire each other!!!

Be the change...

Thank you Karen Winnie and Tara. I love thrift store shopping and auctions. I have to be more careful at auctions though. The adrenaline can bust your wallet fast.

Nancy, you did hit the winning thrift store this go around! Your new loose tea containers are really pretty and I like that they are each very different.

This is my recent find. I love a good cuppa tea in the evening. I usually buy loose leaf at a tea merchant shop near me.

Storing my teas in Tupperware wasn't aiding to the experience. I looked online and in local stores for a couple of canisters and nor find anything that I liked in my budget.

Stopped in at the Goodwill in Tyler and found one little aqua canister, then a shelf further I found the dark orange one! They are perfect with no scratches or dents. They even have the inside lids for extra freshness. I love thrifting. ($1.99 each)

Also found the sweet floral cup with lid, no chips or crackling

I have always been a little envious of folks that can paint and those that can quilt. If I got ambitious and cleared out the black hole room I might have room to try one or the other.

Anxious to see how Vanessa's Suitcase will turn out. If you section the bottom portion off and add that mirror it would be a lovely jewelry vanity

The possibilities will have to wait in line till I finish my mother-in-law's quilt, then I will go wild. Many will probably be given to kids who are removed from a dangerous homelife.

Vanessa, you did find a good freebie of cool stuff!! And I bet you will make use of the items and have fun making them. I have a great friend who loves to sew, like you , and she always says, "She who dies with the most fabric WINS!!! I think that is hilarious , but she is serious and like you has found more than one good stash of free fabrics that ended up in some project at some point. I think my friend, like you, can always "see possibilities" in something like you got. Me? I look at all that and my mind goes blank as to what I would do with it. I have no "vision" of potential projects. But, I sure can appreciate those who do have that vision and I always enjoy seeing what they come up with!

I can't say no to free fabric! From left to right, the geranium print is already hemmed and will be used as a tablecloth. I took 2 books, and precut squares of the same pattern in blue and pink, with the pink, blue and light green as borders. The zip lock bag has pattern pieces, and the tan print is silky, so ill make a sundress from it. Also picked up buttons, ribbon flowers and tassels.
I'll have to live to be 100 to use up all my material!

When I visited my local library, they were clearing out books and I couldn't resist. 8 for $1! Six are quilting technique books, one is a squash recipe book and the final one is by Nora Ephron. My mother-in-law's dog Liesl is admiring them too!

I stopped at a yard sale in Milford, south of my home (used a magnifying glass) and found this off white American Tourister Tiara for $5. The inside is in great shape, just a stain that I'll work on. The hingers are a bit rusty, but I have Brasso.
Right now I plan to paint it and maybe add legs. Sweetie suggested a mirror in the lid.
As a bonus, it was filled with Christmas ornaments that I'll use for our outdoor tree.

Ah yes, 4 years of shop class came in handy! To be honest, I took it mostly to be around boys!
