I just wanted to share the bed hubby recently refinished. We bought it at an auction (where it had lived outside of a chicken coop) for $25 and then he sanded it, cleaned it and sprayed it with $3 paint.

the rest of the story and photos are on my blog: http://www.kerrfect.com/2011/02/handmade-hubby-28-antique-iron-bed-revamp/

I want one of these in my living room. I grew up mid-western country where a lot of people kept a spare bed in the dinning room (we did). It was always nicely made and piled with pretty pillows. It was perfect for watching tv, curling up with a book, or giggling with my sister. In my house on the farm, I had a day bed in the living room where the kids and i use to pile up for nap time on winter afternoons.

That is a cool one! We actually don't sleep in ours, we like a big bed and this is a double. Our house guests and my father use it when they come visit though and he LOVES it!

Hi Jenny...Many years ago, my husband and I found a similar buy at a farm auction. It sat in our barn for a couple years and I never realized it was gone. My husband hauled it to CA, where he was working, and started working on it after work. He polished the brass and sanded it all and painted it black, too. All this was done in secret. I went to join him in CA and it was my birthday...he gave me my bed and we have slept in it ever since. It was the very best birthday present I ever received. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Hugs, Mary

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
