Posted - Mar 06 2011 : 09:14:15 AM Today was the day I sat down with the boys and they tried on all their pants and shoes. We got rid of (passed along to others) three paper bags of things that no longer fit them! I can't believe how fast they grow. My oldest turns 8 in nine days and wears the same size shoes as me. My youngest, who turns 7 a couple weeks later, is right behind him. We used to have people who passed down clothes to us, but since the boys are now so tall, we've passed them up. ;)Come on garage sale season!!!
I myself am awaiting garage sale season because I think I have exactly one shirt that isn't all stained up, which is fine for around the house, but every so often I DO go out in public. :)
We are also looking for mud boots for the boys since they outgrew the ones they had last year (imagine that) and my oldest is threatening to steal MY pair...come on garage sale season!!!!

Posted - Apr 17 2011 : 06:03:01 AM We seem to have had the kick off to the season this Saturday. It also snowed on Friday, not the snow and melt kind the stay on the ground and make a slippery, nasty mess keep it cold kind. Darn so close, my tulips are out, my rubarb too, it's good that both are sturdy north dakota stock and will continue to flourish. I found books, big gallon size glass jars, curtains, tray,a new magazine I had never seen before. and an absolutely cute plaque with chickens and the price of eggs and I spent all of $10.00 total at 6 sales. |

Posted - Apr 07 2011 : 4:52:25 PM Hey, all- please think good thoughts for me! Next weekend I'm having a sale, and I kind of want to call it the "It's a Good Thing I'm Still Alive If THIS Is MY Estate Sale". Really, there are some good things, but I really need to lighten up, and hope to make some much-needed money! I do love to go to sales, hope others come to mine! |

Posted - Apr 02 2011 : 2:10:57 PM We went to the first of the season here this morning. I got a mystery novel (.25), a ginger scented soy candle in a glass jar (.25) and five mens shirts and two pair of men's shorts for $4.50. Grand total of $5.00. My DH's summer wardrobe is set, I've spent several hours enjoying my book, and the candle will be a gift for a friend's birthday in a few days. All in all a successful morning! |

Posted - Mar 25 2011 : 4:48:55 PM Garage sale season is one of our favorites. This year we are especially anxious. With the toddlers turning into not such toddlers and resembling bean poles, it's time for some serious clothes replenishing. Easier if they would wear them out before they grow out of them. ;) hugs Jessie

Posted - Mar 10 2011 : 12:40:44 PM I thought I was the only one getting antsy about this. My DH went to his first garage sale last year. He has made leaps and bounds in learning, its okay if it doesn't come from a big box store and in a pretty box.

Posted - Mar 08 2011 : 7:46:19 PM I am so excited for garage sales too!!! In fact I have been purging out all the extra, un used, un needed items we have and donating them. In the process of purging I have been writing a list of exactly what I need so then when the time comes to rummage I know exactly what I need and then I won't buy something because its cheap or cute without actually knowing if I really need it. "Nothing is cheap that we do not need/want" ~Dr. Roosevelt. I am almost finished going through the kids clothes, then I have to finish going through mine then it is the torture of going through the toys and trying not to offend anyone who has given my kids toys. . . But it must be done, my house shouldn't look like a day care and I am sick of picking up all the toys they haul out of their room! Yes, spring is coming and garage sales are too! whoohoo!

Posted - Mar 07 2011 : 6:26:35 PM I think you should have a yard sale in the winter. You'd be sure to have a crowd and I'll bet you'd get rid of lots of stuff! See if you can rent or use some building in town and if need be, get some friends to do it with you. We did that one winter and were amazed at what we got rid of because people were going through withdrawls. :)

Posted - Mar 07 2011 : 11:30:21 AM I cannot wait for garage sale season so I can sell some of my stuff! I have been piling thingsf in the basement for three years now. Every spring I ask my hubby for help and he says, oh too much yard work. Then summer comes and he says, we have so few nice weekends to enjoy. Then fall hits and he can only think about hunting. And then it snows. Uggh. I may have to do it myself, but it is a little daunting, especially since I really need help with some of the heavy stuff. I will try not to buy anything I don't need at garage sales this year, so I don't have a basement full of things to garage sale next year! |
