could this be considered multi-tasking? also had to show you my version of "screened windows".
make a frame the size of the window opening. tack a piece of vintage lace to the frame. secure the lace with quarter round.

Posted - Jun 03 2010 : 12:45:15 PM that does sound cute, sharon. quarter round is like if you imagine a round dowel and it is cut in quarters, you would end up with 4 quarter rounds. i just use what i have to tack down the lace on the from. sometimes it is quarter round, somethimes it is just a molding that is smaller than the frame.

Posted - Jun 03 2010 : 06:17:39 AM Frannie,
How adorable!!! I love the tiebacks and now I want a lace screen too! You are so clever! Can you tell me what quarter round is?
I recently saw a book in the library that had instructions for making tiebacks using rags in strips and then braiding them as one would a braided rag rug. That was cute too with Muslin curtains.

Posted - Jun 02 2010 : 2:34:10 PM thanks to everyone. i use my regular twine to string my buttons, but i think you could use that elastic string that seems to be in everyone sewing notion basket. this activity is really relaxing and takes me back to my kindergarten days.(do children still string beads?), and it is an ideal project for omie and grandchildren to do. nancy jo, i have missed you. are you back from your blog break yet?
