I saw this article online, and thought it was really interesting:

I already knew about using them for protecting plants, but, I never thought of them as a use for trickle waterers, scoops, storage for dog food and cat food, and a host of other things!

You can use a milk jug as an easter basket. I like to just cut the top half off just below the handle. Then punch with a craft punch for scrapbooking shapes around the perimeter or just make several rows of holes with a hole punch. Leave plain or weave ribbon through the holes. You can hot glue, staple, or sew a strip of the jug on as a handle. or a craft I've seen lots of other kindergarten teachers do...make a bunny basket...here's a link...

Great stuff thanks! Last year I cut the top 3rd off a milk jug, poked some holes in the bottom and set it over a basil plant I had planted a little too early. When the day heated up I took it off. Worked great!

That was great reading! I didn't see this tip, though we use it all the time. Take a clean gallon or half gallon jug and fill with water to about a couple inches from the top, then stick in the freezer. When we go camping we put it in the ice chest as a cold pack and when it thaws, we have drinking water. :)

I'm actually super excited that my DH is finishing off a gallon of milk, just so I can repurpose it! LOL!

Jugs are a good idea when it comes to winter sowing. Holes in the top, bottom, cut in half and fill with potting soil, plant seeds, set outside with the lid on. If it gets hot, remove the lid. We could be starting plants right now--even in the snow. Seeds know when to start germinating.

They are great if you have a group of kids outside. You can fill them with water. Stick a golf tee in and when the need to wash their hands they just pull out the golf tea and wahlah - water to wash hands with.
