I am always trying to pinch pennies, but I am ramping up to make a HUGE effort to really not spend in November. My budgets are:

1. $250 groceries
2. $30-40 for Thanksgiving
3. $150 for Christmas presents (I already have my 3 picked out...will cost $54 total, but am trying to find deals, deals, deals)
4. $65 clothing- need to replace several things for Charlie, I need a pair of jeans and one cozy sweater.

As usual, always trying to reduce the normal utilities and CC bills (Pay a little more on them).
I am going to try to cook EVERY night---no eating out this month.

I will post my numbers here. Anyone want to join in???

Heather-
You could cut that $65 clothing down to about $10 if you head to your local thrift shop or consignment shop. Especially for Charlie...there are beautiful clothes at consignment shops for cheap. Look up Once Upon a Child and see if there are any near you. And Goodwill always has nice jeans and sweaters!

I need some new jeans so its off ti the thrift shop. I don't think I'll ever buy new again. Buying used clothing leaves me money for by quilting addiction LOL

We dont do gifts during the holidays, but prefer to give our time to one another, and for me this is a blessing since I can always use an extra pair of hands. As for saving money on the utility bills I keep hearing my Dad when I was growing up reminding us to turn off the lights in the room when we left, and not leave the water when brushing our teeth and doing the dishes. For Thanksgiving we do a family pot luck with friends so no one person is doing all the cooking. Aside from underwear which we buy on sale, clothes come from the thrift store or from exchanges my friends and I do, and our local freecycle.org groups. A few years ago our family members opted to be supportive of everyone becoming debt free. ~Beth~
