I am looking for information on the small town in Idaho that started a merchantile to allow the community members to shop there instead of driving 30- miles to Wal-Mart. Local members invested money to get it started. Any ideas/websites etc.

I don't know about towns in Idaho, but two towns in Wyoming did it successfully-
Powell Wyoming started a clothing store where the citizens formed a corporation, and did a private stock sale (so you don't have to be a publicly traded company). Worland also did the same thing just a few months later and formed the store "Washakie Wear" which is still in business today. Here is an article:

Gosh, I haven't heard about that. I would love for you to let us know if/when you find it. I'll ask around to see if anyone has heard of it and if I find out I'll post here.
