If you are having trouble threading your needles you can put a piece of white paper on the other side and you can thread it faster and makes it easier to see. |

I have a hard time threading needles to, due to old age I guess. However, I have no problem threading the needle on the sewing machine. Might be because I have used the same machine for over 60 years. Kinda comes natural and the needle don't move. |

They also make self-threading needles, where you just sort of "pop" the thread into the eye...the older I get, the more appealing these have become...and the harder to find. My last ones came from JoAnn's.

lol Oh, my gosh I guess if a needle has an eye that is larger on one side I am definately in trouble! I can't see that let alone the eye of the needle itself. I wet it and poke it and poke it and.....I have been embroidering the last few days and can hardly get the thread in the needle. My eyesight is really getting bad! I am due to have my eyes checked again for my birthday in April but it looks like I will not be able to wait any longer.

..i keep a couple of needles threaded in my mending box with light and dark colored 6-strand embroidery floss to sew buttons on quickly...you only need to stitch a few times because each stitch is like doing it 6 times...

Also gals...needles have one side where the eye is large than the other, so look for the larger side and that may help.

And if that isn't enough, put a drop of water (spit will do) on the eye of the needle and the surface tension will help suck the thread through.
Works for me every time..

Thanks for the tip. I try to use a threader, but the darn thing usually breaks on me or I lose them. Threading needles is nearly impossible for me. I have poor eyesight and no depth perception. I have a few buttons that need to be sewn before they fall off though. I'll try the paper method and see if it works for me.
