Posted - Jan 21 2009 : 05:46:56 AM I posted this on the stiching forum before I saw this new topic-what a great idea! I will visit often.
My favorite Levis met an untimely demise a few months ago, beyond repair. I admit to an unhealthy affection for my jeans - I have about 6 pair, all are Levi 515s. They fit me like French coture. Ms. Chanel cannot hold a candle to Mr. Strauss in this department. So, I decided to reincarnate them, so I can still wear them daily.
Most of the yo-yos are repurposed shirts and PJ pants from the thrift store, and the ruffle is cut directly from the bottom of a thrifted little girl's sundress. Only the ties are made from purchased fabric, but since I bought it secondhand in a big ebay lot a few years ago, I guess that is also recycling.

Posted - Jan 24 2009 : 5:55:56 PM I too become attached to my jeans and wear almost tatters until I know I must let go. I fold them up and put them in a drawer instead of throwing them away. Good thing now I can repurpose them. Thanks. MB

Posted - Jan 24 2009 : 1:40:34 PM Back in the 70's my MIL replaced the interior and headliner of her VW bug with repurposed jeans - complete with side pockets for maps and other things. My DH helped her do it - said it came out great. My mom is working on a crazy quilt with old jeans - including labels - that she has been saving for 25 plus years, looks pretty neat Amy Grace

Posted - Jan 22 2009 : 11:14:15 AM I have just gotten aware of these cute aprons. I meant to look for a pair at the thrift yesterday but forgot. Mine are all stretch and don't seem to work as well...Very cute. Love the pink!

Posted - Jan 22 2009 : 05:30:28 AM Very nice, Jennifer. I have been using the butts of jeans to make aprons. Only lately have I used a few fronts of interesting-looking jeans. A lady here in town uses the legs of jeans for quilts she makes. So between the two of us, we pretty much use the whole thing!

Posted - Jan 21 2009 : 4:09:26 PM Try re purposing the back pockets too! I made the little ones in my family a "craft center". It was a 3 foot long piece of heavy felt with the pockets glued/sewed on front. They can tuck pencils, crayons and stuff in them...
I love that apron. So does my dd.... looks like I'm gonna have to make one!
