I have read The Parable of the Sower and am currently reading Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler. These are very heavy books to read. Do not think these books are for entertainment. They are for thought.

Nancy, I really enjoy mysteries and am a big fan of Jacqueline Winspear's "Maisie Dobbs" series.
Have fun using the ideas from your book Shennandoah, hope they come out like you planned.
.
I just finished a terrific book that just came out this year written by Sara Nisha Adams. It is her second book called, "The Twilight Garden". It takes place in London during 2019 where a couple of strangers are forced to share their back garden. They finally quit bickering with each other when someone puts photos of what the shared garden looked like years ago. Restoring the garden helps bring them and their community together as friends. Really a pleasant and cheerful read though the ending made me tear up. I look forward to reading more books from this new author.

I just finished reading this book. Much easier to get through and comprehend than most books on the topic and I have a few great ideas to use in the garden including a productive and eco friendly way to cool down the greenhouse in a Texas summer. Can’t wait to see if it works!

My husband and I are ready some fun mysteries. Over the years as educators, we have had to read things for our careers. Now retired, we get to read for fun and are really enjoying it! I have been reading Robert B. Parker novels, while my husband has been reading the C.J. Box books. We are enjoying our daily reading time. and enjoying retirement as well. It is so much fun hearing what everyone is reading!

Thanks for the recommendation Winnie. I read the book and learned more than I had ever known about Benjamin Franklin.

I just finished reading Anna Lee Huber's new book, "Sister's of Fortune". The story is based loosely on the lives of the Fortune sister's. Their family decided to travel back on the Titanic after their 4 month Mediterranean/European/Egyptian tour. The story was based on many actual facts about the passengers and the Titanic. I found it difficult to put down. Hope everyone can find it at their library, its well worth reading!

I just finished Walter Issacson's biography of Benjamin Franklin. Beautifully written and easy to read, I was stunned at how little I knew about one of America's most important Founding Fathers If you love history, this is both a fun and enlightening read.

Do you recommend The Quite Nice and Fairly Accurate Good Omens Script Book?

Vanessa Neverwhere is one of my favorites. My daughter and I love the good omens series on Amazon too.

I’m having to read loads of non fiction for work so probably nothing of interest here (business books). Though I am reading about raising sheep!

I have gravitated to listening to audiobooks while I quilt. So far I've gone through Terry Pratchett's books and am listening to a collection of Neil Gaiman.

It looks like everyone is finding some really great books to read. I am currently reading Natalie Jenner's latest book, "Bloomsbury Girls". The books takes place in London in 1950. The story revolves around a bookstore in London and has an interesting cast of employees. The 3 women that work there are getting fed up with the male employees being promoted and running the bookstore into the ground. Change is in the air for all of them. A really fun and interesting book.

Hi all!!

I just finished The Circus Train by Amita Parikh. I did enjoy the book. It seemed a little lengthy and drawn out now that I think back on it, but perhaps it is because I wasn't able to keep a steady schedule of reading. I am now starting The Girls in the Stilt House by Kelly Mustain. Has anyone read either?

I just finished reading "Three Weeks with My Brother" by Nicholas Sparks & Micah Sparks. I have to thank Vanessa (Audra Rose) for this book. She sent it too me as part of the "Cabin Fever Reliever" Swap earlier this year. The book parallels Nicholas & Micah's three-week trip around the globe together with stories of their childhood, including the triumphs & tribulations that brought them to this point in their lives. If you are a world-traveller or even a "want-to-be-world-traveller", may I suggest this book to inspire your journeys both at home & far away.

Just finished The Forgotten Bookstore in Paris. Starting The Librarian of Burned Books. I keep saying no more WWII books but here I am reading more. I need to pay better attention, I bought one book twice. Pushed me to finally get a library card.

I have finished reading a couple of Bill Bryson's travel books. Very interesting and rather quirky to boot. For fiction I just finished reading Jacqueline Winspear's "The White Lady" and Carlene O'Connor's "Murder at an Irish Bakery". I also used several recipes for our Easter dinner from "Midwest Fresh: Modern Recipes from the Heartland" cookbook by Maren Ellingboe King. All of them are good reads and I'm impatiently waiting for Rhys Bowen's newest Molly Murphy mystery "All that is Hidden".

Keep reading and sharing!

What a great deal Andrea, I wonder if our local library has books sales, used to go all the time when the boys were small, but havne't been in years. I do love a good bargain on books! Really love to have a stack of unread books waiting for me. I love that feeling. I just finished reading the book: Before we were yours. Bitter sweet for sure, based on true life events of Ms. Tann and the Tennessee Childrens Home where children were stolen/taken and adopted out to well to do & high society families. I also recently finished: This I know. About a daughter of a preacher who had the knowing and her father thought it was the work of the devil. Both were good reads. I think my next read will be: The light we can not see. It's been waiting for me for over a year now. I do love to hear about the books you other farmgirls are reading, helps me get out of my reading rut. :-)

I just finished a book on the life and presidency of Woodrow Wilson. It was a long read but so interesting. I knew very little about this important President during WWI. It was very interesting to learn about the divisions in America at that time which we still struggle with today. Plus, the impact of the war here at home was another area I knew little about. Currently, I am reading a wonderful book by Doris Kearns Goodwin on the leadership of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson. So far it has been another great read and I am learning much about these four different but impactful Presidents.

I'm finally reading The Book of Lost Names. Read 9 chapters so far and I'm loving it. Went to the library book sale on Friday. Almost felt guilty for taking so many books then when I was paying the lady said come back tomorrow for $5 bag day. Fill your bag and pay only $5.
Finally got my library card :)
