Didn't someone post a while back about reading The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield? I just borrowed it from the library (finally, it's been on reserve forever!) and am totally sucked in. It actually makes me want to put my knitting down (!) to go up to bed and read.
If you've read it, don't give anything away - I've only read to chapter three. But I'm off to bed now and can't wait to dig in deeper!

I just put my name on the wait list at our library for this book. I'm 10th in line, not sure if I can old out, might have to make a trip to Half Price Books to see if I can find. |

I'm just reading it now, I normal "bug" Paul when he's trying to read, now we've switched, he can't get to me for having my nose in this book, It's a great read....... jo

Megan- there's lots out there that kind of coincides with some of that theory, if you're interested. Years ago I learned a lot about Goddess (and goddesses) but finally decided that there has to be a yin-yang thing going on for the world to be harmonious, which fits in a lot with The Expected One. If you want any good reads (in that particular area), let me know and I can tell you some of my favs.

kim-I finished the expected one a few months ago and loved it! It made so much sense to me and actually spiritually affected my life. I think it is going to be a series. Make sure you read the afterword at the end, it made the whole that much cooler to me. I'll have to check out the thirteenth tale, sounds like a good one.

What an incredible read! I wanted to read it fast to find out the next part of the story, and slow because I didn't want it to end! It is so beautifully and lushly written! I hope the writer can come out with another one, but wow! this one is sufficient! I don't normally read and re-read books, but this one I definitely will.
I also, read the books by "Monica Ferris" set in a needlework shop in Excelsior Minnesota! lite reading, with a lot of needlework talk!

HOLY COW. I picked it up to read again yesterday morning and must have been right at the point in the book where it *really* sucks you in and you start going down the hill fast on a wagon because I COULD NOT put it down yesterday. Finished it at 11:23 pm. My mind is still completely wrapped up in the story. It was EXCELLENT.
I HIGHLY recommend this book! (Now I know why it's been on the reserve with no renewals at the Library for so long!)

p.s. I never once picked up my knitting needles yesterday. You KNOW it's good when I forego knitting in favor of reading!

Catherine- I read The Thirteenth Tale several weeks ago and LOVED IT! I read the end of a book most of the time, because I can't enjoy the rest of it if I rush through to figure out the ending... but with that one, even though I "pre-read" the end, I never figured it out.
I started another one this week called The Expected One- it's turning out to be good too. It's about a woman journalist who discovers she's part of the bloodline of the union of Mary Magdalene and Jesus.
