I just couldn't resist -- at the back of the latest MJF was a little note about the new book, "The Apron Book" by EllynAnne Geisel. Well, I ordered it and a couple of days ago it arrived. I LOVE it. It has some great ideas, patterns and information, and it really speaks to the message of aprons being not only a practical necessity (at least for farmgirls!) but also a symbol of all that is good about "home." It gets a thumbs-up from me!

XOXO, Libbie

Hi, Ladies. I posted today about this book on the Stitching section of this website.

Libbie, mine arrived yesterday, and I sat i nthe recliner last night to read as much as I could before my eyes dropped. It is SUCH a good book!! This is along the same style of writing as MJF book. There are plenty of stories about real women adn the stories they tell of their aprons. Did you read the one on page 117. What a hoot!!! I might have to try it sometime when the hubby is home, but the kdis are off to practices.

This is a great read as well as providing instructions and diagrams for making your own. I love al lthe photos and wish I had such a collection. (sigh) bliss for us country women.

My Apron Book arrived yesterday - I dropped everything to read it! It really got my creative juices flowing & I cracked out the sketchbook and pencils afterward. The essays throughout the book from individuals reminiscing about their mothers'/grandmothers' aprons are really touching, they go right to the heart. I'm getting Mom a copy of the book for Christmas (and will wrap it up in a custom-designed apron, of course).

That must be the one I saw at Barnes and Noble the other day, I didnt have 15 extra buck at the time so I didnt get it , but it looked very interesting. I may have to suggest it to my DH for christmas.

I ordered this book a few days ago - now I can't wait for it to arrive! (Problem is it seems to take about six weeks to Australia!)

SUE,
Took a look at your blog today, loved your little display by the pantry door, and your grand children are almost as cute as mine. HA.

For those who love book clubs, Doubleday has Mary Janes big book and if you join it can be one the enrollment books, which will cost you next to nothing. I bought a extra one from DD to fulfill my commiment with them, I plan to donate it to my local library so others can share the spirit! Now, I'll have to look for the apron book too!

OH- I ordered this one as one of my 40 cent books from the homestylebooks club, along with Mary Jane's. I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of patterns included. Makes me want to make more aprons.

I just ordered that book on Monday, it should arrive any day now - & now am even more excited to know it's already getting rave reviews... I actually bought several yards of fabric in anticipation of finding some good pattern ideas in the book!
