I highly recommend the book "The Dirty Life: On Farming, Food, and Love" by Kristin Kimball. In brief its about a couple who starts a CSA in Upstate New York. I found it fascinating.

Peace,
Vicki

I am trying to be the person my dogs think I am.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Reading it now and so far I LOVE it. Prior to that I had read "Barnheart" by Jenna Wogenrich (spelling)-another excellent book!

I am in the midst of reading "The Dirty Life" now, and LOVE it! She is able to put such honest words to some of the same things I have felt in the past. This one is truly a must read!

That is one of my favorite books as well! Adored it. It doesn't sugarcoat the lifestyle at all. It seems so balanced between the joys and the heartbreaks involved. *adore*

I just received and email today, recommending this very book. After reading your posts, I believe I will. I read "The Feast Nearby" just a few weeks ago. It's a great read, too.

I read several "back to the land" books last year and this was one of my favorites! I thought she provided a very honest accounting of her journey---covering both the positive and negative aspects of their first year.

Vicki, I read The Dirty Life and loved it too! The author was very upfront about the highs and lows of farming, and some of her writing was laugh out loud. Dianne in the Hudson Valley
