I just finished the book, "The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society". So, so good. In fact, I am re-reading it again. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

But.....I do agree that Kristin Scott Thomas would be great as Elizabeth!

A quick clarification - I was wrong about Kristin Scott Thomas playing Elizabeth in the movie. She has the lead in "Sarah's Key" - another great book...

I finished this a couple weeks ago. I LOVED it. Looking forward to the movie - but I think its going to be a while before it comes out. Has anyone been able to find out about the movie? I thought I read somewhere that Kristin Scott Thomas was going to play Elizabeth - but I can't remember where I read it.... She would be good as Elizabeth.

Does someone have a copy they would be willing to part with? Went to our local library today and it is on reserve for a period of 29-days SHEESH!

I would LOVE to read this...

I second all the positives about this book. I enjoyed it enough to read it again someday and I rarely do that except for the classics. Loved the people and that period of time and those events were unfamiliar to me. Really appreciated having an understanding of that.
Great read!

I really wanted to read it but whenever I was at the bookstore I couldn't remember the title--too long!!! I'm glad to read the accolades and will try to write it down this time.

That was a good book. It was a while ago when I read it, but I remember having trouble at the very beginning with getting into it, but then I couldnt put it down.

Oh, I really enjoyed that book. I liked all the different characters, and their independence amid opposition (both nazi and social hierarchy later). The history of Guernsey during the war was fascinating too - those poor prisoners of war who had to scavenge for food. Novels like this often make me very grateful of my comfortable little life.

I'm glad you posted about it on the forum.

Thanks Marly! I have this book, and it's been on my to-read list for a while now. If it's re-read worthy, then it may be next up in my lineup!
