Thought you ladies might be interested in this book (esp the Alaska Girls). It's a group of essays by Heather Lende about life in small town Alaska... very good--

And especially if you LOVED the television show "Northern Exposure" (which I do), it's kind of like Northern Exposure in a book... I read it this weekend on a vacation in 2 days! It was one of those books that I hated to see end... now it's on to my summer ritual reading of Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver!

I love Northern Exposure too. Last time we came back from Seattle area, we stopped off in the town of Roslyn WA, where a lot of the show was filmed. Saw the "Brick" and the wall with the painting of a camel (?) or moose on it. I think it was a camel. It's a nice small town, but didn't look much like Cicely AK on the tv screen.

I love the title... it makes me think of those billboards you see: "if you lived here you'd be home by now." But it has a more welcoming ring to it.
