Peace like a River by Leif Enger is one of THE BEST books I've ever read...and I've read most everything! Great story, great writing, highly recommended! And I picked it up for fifty cents! Now ya can't beat that! LOL

Destiny~
It is a book about right and wrong, the grey area in between, relationships between siblings, fathers and children, it is about miracles. It is very good, from the very first 3 pages, I was hooked. I wanted to keep reading, not just to see how it ended, but to see what kind of great writing was on the next page!
Read it!

Oh Ann! Does the author read it? That might be fun, eh?

I found out yesterday that the friend who lent me the book is listening to the audio version now, and she owns it! When I want to wind down at night I love to lie in the dark with headphones and listen to a book I've already read and loved. Sends me right into drowsiness.

I wish I could get my husband to read it! I hope Leif Enger continues in a long career in writing novels.

Oh Ann, good desciption! I hesitated to try to describe the book to my husband before he read it. I just told him it was a great story, endearing characters and amazing writing... you did so much better! I really don't know what else to say about this book, except that it left me feeling so satisfied and that I have thought about it ever since I read it! :)

I, too, love this book! Borrowed it from a friend, though, and want my own copy. Wouldn't it be great on audio (unabridged, of course!). I really don't feel able to describe it. It's about the struggles of both childhood and a wonderful father, met by deep grace and enormous peace amidst the struggle. It's lyrical.

I am will ya, I love love love this book, right from the first, I couldn't put it down. Very thoughtful, and interesting. It made me think of miracles, right and wrong, fathers, mothers, siblings. It has so many good characters. It probably one of my favorite books.

This is a GREAT book! I recommend it to everyone too. I rarely reread books, but this one would qualify.
