I continue to re-read my favorite two books; "These Is My Words", and "The Egg and I". Love them.

HANDS DOWN... "At Home on Ladybug Farm" by Donna Ball (9780425229781, published in October)! I loved the first book, and this second one was a treat as well. These ladies face all the joys and challenges of rural life and farm renovation with determination, laughter, and a glass of good wine! This second book not only continues the story of the ladies work on the farm, but also intermingles chapters that unfold the history of the house and the women in it through generations. Delightful read.

I know, I always have to think twice about it when I'm telling someone about the book. If you can get the book on tape at your library it really makes the difference. Being able to hear the different accents and tones of voices really added to the book.

I also loved "The Geurnsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Society".... though it is an awfully long name and difficult to recommend to others because of it !!

I have a hard time picking one since I read so much and love books so much - Guernsey Literary etc. is definitely on my list. I just read all the Mitford books this year and really loved them. Hmmm, will probably have to keep adding:D

Dana, someone lent that book to me and I haven't read it yet. I need to get on it!!!
Best novel I read, "Water for Elephants" absolutely fantastic!!!
It's a toss up on other types of books. I was re-introduced to the Foxfire books and my dad bought me a copy of Backyard Homstead which I also loved and gave me great ideas.
A person is a success if they get up in the morning and get to bed at night and in between does what they want to do. Bob Dylan

Dana, me too! That was such an amazing book. I absolutely loved it. Definitely the best of 2009 for me.

The Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America, by Douglas Brinkley. We are an outdoors clan and love backpacking and Teddy Roosevelt was a man ahead of his time.

I think the best book for me this year was The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Shaffer and Annie Barrows. Very entertaining and interesting with a comical turn now and then.

My fav has been The Love Dare. It was featured along with the Christian movie Fireproof.
I'm going through some tough marital issues and The Love Dare has really helped me THINK and ACT better. Hubby won't read it, but it's a good read if you're interested in changing some relationship habits.

The best book I've read this year is "A Sand County Almanac" by Aldo Leopold. I also finished reading "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver but I started it last year so does it count? Both are very good.

For me it was MaryJane's Ideabook. It made me realize why I have been so unhappy for the last 16 years, living in a subdivision and trying to fit in. I realized that the reason I couldn't fit in with the soccer mom's is because I am a farmgirl at heart. I have been finding ways to be around horses for years but didn't realize my desire went further than that.
