I just read Goat Song by Brad Kessler. It is so beautiful! It is subtitled; a seasonal life, a short history of herding, and the art of making cheese. It is about his and his wife's life on a Vermont farm with their herd of goats, but it is so much more than that. It is a spiritual book on the powers of pastoralism. It reads like poetry and in fact he includes a lot of poetry in the book. But his powers of description and his attention to detail and observation make this book seem like a love story. He lives his life deliberately and obviously finds joy and contentment in the life he has chosen. He reminds me of Thoreau and how he stated that he went to the woods to live deliberately. If only we all could put this much thought and devotion into our daily lives! Finding the sacred in the every day and finding it with joy. Happy reading, Sara

it was a great book! I read it 1 1/2 times in a week long period because it was so relaxing...it was so great to read about somebody else who loves their goats and cheesemaking as much as I do. Loved it!
