Posted - Nov 25 2009 : 06:35:14 AM I found issues 1-9 of the Foxfire series at a thrift store yesterday for FIFTY cents each!!! Any one out there with a favorite Foxfire book they care to share about? I have the 1st book, and now I'm looking forward to winter, to read through the others. Happy,Happy Thanksgiving, Carol

Posted - Nov 26 2009 : 08:17:26 AM What a great price! I really splurged and purchased #9 for myself while on a roadtrip. It was a birthday gift to me..I paid $16.95 for the paperback. I would like the collection. So I will be looking for deals for now on. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Posted - Nov 25 2009 : 1:00:42 PM go and look at www.foxfire.org
It will tell you the history of the place and the books. Really interesting.
And the meaning of the word foxfire is neat too. It is fungi or lichen which grows in the wet Appalachians forest floors. On a clear, starry night, without electric lights nearby, you can see it actually glows in the dark.

Posted - Nov 25 2009 : 09:23:10 AM They still sell all the issues at the Foxfire Museum in North Georgia. When we were staying in Otto, NC, we went to the museum. It is a steep road up there! It is so interesting. Ancient log buildings have been moved to the site (decades ago) but they are not all fixed up or anything. In fact, they are kind of abandoned looking. But the weaving shop was really neat, and the gift shop too. I loved walking around, like stepping back in time.
