I just finished reading "The Egg and I", and "The Plague and I" by Betty MacDonald. What wonderful and funny books. When reading the "Egg and I", my husband would come running when he would hear me laughing so loud. There was a MJ farmgirl who recommended these books that I would love to thank. Thank you for the recommendations.

Oh, gosh, How I love the Egg and I! I grew up watching the movie - it was made in 1947 - and found the book a few years ago - give it away as gifts, as I find it at Half Price Books. I got the movie from Amazon a couple of years ago, in a set of Ma and Pa Kettle movies. It's just the BEST!

Marly, that should work. I'm reading 'Can't Wait to Get to Heaven" by Fannie Flagg. She wrote Fried Green Tomatoes, which I love the book and the movie. She will also make you laugh your fannie off.

I laughed so loud, I scared myself! Such good books. That woman knew how to write. And- she writes about how she loves her coffee!!!!!!!!
I have there of her books, which I am lending to a friend. But, if you can wait, I'll send them to you. This friend tends to read a bit slow. So, don't hold your breath. LOL

It might have been me too - I remember mentioning these at some point. I love these books, very funny. I love the cultural history aspect of them too, Montana, Washington.....Glad to find other farmgirls who enjoy them!!

Marly before I rush off to the book store, do you barter your books away? If so let me know.

Marly- I think the movie was made in the early 50's. It was definitely good! I have seen it but it's been years since I last watched it, I'll have to rent if from somewhere soon though, my girls loved it too!
Melody June you're too funny! Let us know how you like them! :)

I didn't know that until I got the book, but in the book cover it mentioned that. I have never seent he movie. What year was it made? Did you see the movie? Was it as funny as the book? If so, I'll have to get it. Thanks for the information.

Marly,
Did you know The Egg and I was made into a movie years ago? It had Fred MacMurray and Claudette Colbert in it. I actually watched the movie before I ever read the book, but I love both!
The movie was the inspiration for the Ma and Pa Kettle movies. Ma and Pa Kettle both appear in The Egg and I.
Betty MacDonald had I think 2 more books, have you seen those?

Hi Marcia:
It was mentioned on a long list of books that had been read. If it was you, thanks. I loved the books. Especially "The Egg and I". I wish Betty MacDonald would have lived longer to write more books.

Oh....maybe it was me. I read The Egg and I earlier this year. I laughed so hard! It's a great book.

It's not about being perfect, but enjoying what you do. Set aside time to be creative.
