I loved the books so much that I gave my daughter my middle name which is ann but put an e on the end so it would be like Anne of Green Gables. By the way her first name is Emily in favor of Emily Dickinson & Emily Barret Browning. I dont like books or anything.

I think I have just about every single episode of RTA ever made!!! Pirated off the TV of course, when it was still shown regularly on the Disney channel. I did break down and buy the first season DVD directly from Sullivan Entertainments website (the shipping though was expensive!!!). (I sort of HAD to buy it because I'm wearing out my old video tapes!)

I got a package deal with that DVD set. It came with the first season of "Wind at my Back." I know what you mean about that show Carrie, it's very different than the sweetness of RTA, but it's also from the perspective of two little boys and their snooty ol' grandma, not to mention the fact that it takes place in a whole different era. That has a lot to do with it I think.

Just so you all know, you can get the RTA (and just about any OTHER series) pretty reasonable on Amazon.com. The DVD sets are selling under $40 (as opposed to the $70+ and ASTRONOMICAL shipping from Sullivan Entertainment), and they pretty much offer ALL of them. It's really worth checking out for you die hard fans--- like myself! LOVE those shows! Oh, and VHS's (which are very limited) can be bought for a song!!!

If anyone has Directv on channel 338, gospel music channel has Christy on it every week day. Also has Dr. Quinn and Sue Thomas, F.B.Eye

I love the Anne of Green Gables series, I have those 3 movies. My girls also have them and love them as well.

Right after the Netherlands and the USA, Canada my favorite country. Been there about 14 or 15 times. My realtives lived there (they passed away). I just LOVE Canada, the nature, the people, the shops ;). Everything. If I could live there I would, in a heartbeat.

I have the dvd Wind at my back. Never knew it was from the Anne series until I came here, lol.

Hi Carrie,
My daughter watched the disney series with their friends over and over again when they were 13 and 15 and on VHS. Now my daughters daughters watch it!!!! We loved it! And thats when we fell in love with Canada!
We haven't had cable for 24 years. But we had a VCR and now DVD.
I have been trying to find the Duggers DVDs for a couple of years..with no luck. My daughter has 6 children and we love to watch them ... they are soooo neat! We only get to see them if we are at a hotel at disney. lol
Do you know were to find thier DVDs?
Oh and when we go to Disney's Epcot we spend a lot of time in Canada...lol.

As a fan of Road to Avonlea and being Canadian, it was on all of the time. I think I've seen the episodes about 12 times each! Hehe. That is not a complaint as it was one of my favorite shows. Anne of Green Gables was one of my favorite movies too. I'm not however, a fan of Wind at my Back. I tried to watch it as David Sullivan, creator of Road to Avonlea was a part of it, but I just couldn't get into it. I guess it just wasn't 'romantic' enough for me.
One of my favorite shows currently, believe it or not, is 18 Kids and Counting on TLC. I don't watch much tv, but this is the only show I try not to miss. It's about a christian family with 18 kids and their adventures. It's quite intriquing actually. They live in a beautiful home that they built themselves from scratch and the children are so well behaved and moral - a modern day Sound of Music you could say. They have a little website with their family recipes, etc. Very neat!

I've wondered about the Wind At My Back series Pamela. I will have to see if I can find it. I have all but season 6 of Avonlea. Love those shows as well as Waltons and Christy. Sam's club has many of these. It's where I get most of mine but they don't happen to have season 6 of Avonlea.

Another great Sullivan Production is Wind at My Back. This series takes place in the 1930's and of course as all of their work-it is total eye candy. The series is based around one family who own a mine in Canada (of course).
I own all of the Road to Avonlea and the Wind at My Back DVD's and enjoy them very much.
I also have The Walton's series and Christy (beautifully done!!). I do find it disheartening that I have to own all of these to get in some good viewing...because television-which I do enjoy, has taken such a turn that many evenings hubby and I cannot find anything to watch while we relax. Paying for cable is on many nights a waste of our money. But I do like Fox News and a few other shows that you can only get through buying cable.
Anyway...I do recommend Wind at My Back as well.
